Ford runs great schools, went to their GT350 class when it was in Utah. It was a great experience. Can’t wait for my Raptor to show up and attend this one.

I opted out of the additional insurance, so hopefully things don't go awry while I'm on the road course.

You should be just fine.
They’ll give you the option again when you arrive.
The lady at the desk said about 80% opt for the insurance. I got it for peace of mind, but it probably wasn’t necessary.

I decided to not attend - I have forty years of off pavement driving experience and I could not stomach the very high insurance cost for the course. I do think that you are a fool if you don't buy it....unless you have really big financial reserves. ;)

Plus I have thousands of miles of lightly traveled gravel and dirt roads to play on already... if you live where that isn't possible, then the school makes much more sense!

I don't plan to get crazy out there and if I think parts of the course are too risky, I will drive around it or just not do it.

Don’t you think that that approach completely defeats the main purpose of the school - learning the performance limits of the truck? You might as well skip the school entirely and just go play up on the Alpine Loop in your own RR. That’s what I did, I went to southern Utah and spent three weeks exploring the Parks and Escalante back country.

Not at all. Any/all information is for learning (good or bad) and it's only going to cost me a couple of nights hotel stay, some gas money and hours driving. I think it will be worth it, since it's a free course with purchasing the truck. I save the off-road exploring for my adventure bike (2022 Husqvarna Norden 901).

Even if you have a ton of experience it’s still a fun course. It was worth going just for the hot lap with the instructor.

I too signed up for the Assault School, after purchasing my RR. Upon applying I identified all my information for my RR. The Assault School responded back for more information on the dealership as they were not finding my RR information/sold. Their written response was we would be in touch. I asked for time off without knowing the Assault School would place me. I waited and waited and contacted them to verify the time, "Oh, yes we have you scheduled."

Upon checking with my supervisor, about the time off, I was told I could not have the time as the time was given to someone else as I had waited too long to confirm. I contacted the Assault School and was able to cancel before the cut off. BUT, to reschedule I would have to pay a penalty of $150 to have them move my original date to a later date (you would think in the computer age this could be accomplished easily).

I do not need the course enough to pay the additional cost. Looks like a great event and everyone going should have a great time.

As for the insurance question, my follow-up would be, "does anyone know if anyone has had to use the insurance during the Assault School?

That is messed up. It's not costing them to reschedule you, so why charge a fee? I could kind of understand a small fee if you were past your original attendance date, but then again...are they at fault for the lack of coordination/response?

Good question...
