If you have a newer model Ranger including Raptor I highly recommend the Ford Pass or Ford Pass Connect app. It has a built in perimeter alarm system + other advanced options. If your car is hit while parked, attempted entry or broken into or towed away, the app notifies you via your cell phone as it is happening. It can globally track your truck as it is moving and you can disable the engine. No matter where you or your truck are located, the system will notify you. I believe there is also a crash sensing/911 notification on the "Connect" version.

Just my 2c
Where on the app is this? Can not find it.

Interesting ...... mine is working beautifully. I would highly recommend that you go to the google play store to download and install "Fordpass app" (NOT Fordpass connect) to your cell phone and follow the directions. I believe the icon will be downladed to your Sync 4a after you register thru the app.

I tried your suggestion and it didn’t work. I’m also app challenged. I did call Ford customer care. According to the rep I spoke with, if the vehicle detects a theft attempt (glass break, locked door opened etc.), the app will alert you.

Does the Fordpass app perimeter alarm system + other advanced options have anything to do with a need for the installation of the "Ford Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System"? Ford Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System | Accessories | Ford.com I understand that the module, for vehicles that already have remote start and hood latch sensor, essentially only adds shock sensing (glass break, vehicle tampering, etc.).

The reason I ask is, in the installation manual there is a procedure to enable/disable "Optional Vehicle Security Features". 2024_Remote_Start_9_20_2023_FINAL.pdf

My two cents and call me paranoid. OK, extremely paranoid. I'm awaiting delivery of my 2025 RR, I'm told its waiting for spray in bed liner. I don't trust high tech. I think every time technology improves, it doesn't take long for the thieves to thwart it, particularly thru the OBD port, but here is my plan: (1) Faraday box to hold all fobs in my house to prevent thieves from stealing the signal and cloning a fob. (2) Steering wheel club, its just a visual deterrent only, particularly for kids, but experienced thieves will bypass it in 30 seconds I know. (3) Faraday pouch fob holder on my keychain, not 100% foolproof as the signal can be stolen as soon as the fob is out of the pouch by thieves in stores or gas station, then follow you home with a cloned fob. (4) Relocate the OBD port and replace with a fake OBD port, put an OBD lock on the real port and push up out of sight. (5) Hide two apple air tags but remove the speakers so thieves cant make them chirp. (6) An old fashioned kill switch to disengage the fuel pump. (7) Cover the windshield VIN number with a fake VIN plate to thwart thieves from looking up your VIN number to get needed info to disable features after they get access to your OBD port. (8) Keep the vehicle in your garage if you have one. (9) There is a way to turn off the fob signal when not in use, good to do with spare fobs, check owners manual or contact dealer on procedure, it can simply be hold the "open door" button on the fob and double click the "lock door" button at the same time. (10) Install a 3-4 inch police magnetic antenna, might tell thieves the vehicle belongs to a cop and owner may have additional methods to find the vehicle. ---Again, just my two cents, not 100% fool proof I know, but enough deterrence for the thief to move on. I will still use Fords app and security as well.

(11) Don't forget the perimeter security plus module, with an LED indicator.

So for those that installed the Ford Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System......is it just a $255 shock sensor if you've already got factory remote start? Seems ford terminated the app notification feature.

I do get a notification on my phone if my alarm goes off. I'm not certain if you get a notification on your phone without the perimeter plus module added.

In any case, using points and sale price, it was worth it to me.

Bought the Perimeter Plus VSS during Ford's labor day accessory sale. Installing the wiring harness was literally a plug-and-play proposition. Plugged the Perimeter Plus VSS harness directly into the gateway and the 4Dtech just behind in series. The 4Dtech continues to work just fine. The challenge was finding a solid mounting point for the Perimeter Plus sensor/processor box where it wouldn't interfere with the glove box or cabin filter door. Unfortunately, there's no "engineered" mounting pad for the sensor.......so I had to settle for the steel cross brace under the dash. It seems to be working just fine. The Perimeter Plus VSS is both a shock sensor and a door intrusion sensor. And yes it will send a notification to the Ford Pass app if the alarm is triggered, however it comes in the form of a message just like those sent when ordering parts or completing a rewards tier. And if your vehicle already has a factory installed remote starting feature, the supplied jumper plug is not necessary. Was it worth the effort? That depends on the end-user, but at least it was something to do in the morning.
