Tonneau cover

Hey everyone,
Just recently got a RR which is my first truck/Ford.
I am installing a tonneau cover but was wondering if this gap is normal or not?
Also have a spray in bedliner and didn’t want to drill holes in the drain plug, but is it okay to use the holes already present per the picture attached?

Looks like the foam gasket is way too high thats why you have a big gap.

I got my tonneau cover (GoRhino) a couple weeks ago but it’s been too cold to get out and install it. Mine has soft foam to fill gap on top of front wall of bed, agree with cactusgrayfx4 that yours looks too tall. Had bed sprayed last week and the guy said they drill a hole in the plastic knockouts in the front wall for their drain tubes. Looking at things there are 2 oval holes in the front that go through to the space between cab and bed I thought I might try for the drains. The ones you use probably drain out the bottom but maybe someone else can say for sure, would be concerned about dumping water between panels with poor drainage and resulting rust out. I’ll definitely be looking at them when it warms up and I do my install

thank you both, I will just cut the foam to level it out so it sits flush. As for the drain plug, hopefully someone can chime in for a solution/alternative to drilling the oval.

Why is the rail angled and not a straight cut? Is it possible to inadvertently install the passenger side rail on the driver side and vice versa? I'm just wondering if that might be a possibility?
I'm thinking straight cut on the front of the bed and angled at the back would make more sense.

I don't believe so, I have the railing correct as it was marked left/right with the clamps locked in with the rail and the bed. It was the foam as it was too big it seems as I was only given this big piece and a very small one.

Okay, just trying to rationalize why an angled cut rather than a straight cut. Is the back of the rail also angled? What brand and model is the tonneau cover?

I was actually able to just cut with a pair of scissors and level the foam out and is now flush. The back is fine, it was more of the front.

I got the Yitamotor Hard Trifold tonneau cover.

yeah that looks backwards to me too.

I second guessed myself too, but the rail marked left I installed on driver side and has to be correct cause the drain plug is sitting at the top of the bed. Same goes for the right (passenger side)

what does the corner at the tailgate look like?

because of the shape of the rail at the tail gate, my tonneau has a slight angle built into it

while the corner at the cab side is perfectly square

Interesting, maybe difference in brand/design? But here is my final installed look. Haven’t tested the water leaks into bed yet for car wash/rain.

looks better. actually looks really decent. i looked at that one when i was considering getting a hard tonneau so its good to see one one a truck here on the forum
