Totally get the math—RR is awesome, but the premium is mostly for capability you may not use every day. If your core needs are commute/haul with occasional trails, an XLT/Lariat plus 33s, a mild lift, better shocks, and real skid plates will get you 80% there for 4–6k and still keep you well under RR money. The RR starts to make sense if you’ll actually beat on it—cooling, suspension tuning, and chassis bits are designed for that use, and resale on them is strong. Either way, don’t forget to to check the inventory management details, price insurance, and tires —RR rubber isn’t cheap and can wipe out the “value” pretty quick.

Completely disagree! I bought the Raptor BECAUSE it's such a blast...on the street! Haven't had the chance to really offroad it much and put it through its true capabilities off the pavement yet but who cares? I drove 2 Lariats in both 2.3 and 2.7. They never put a smile on my face like the Raptor. Try and find another midsize truck that is as much fun on the street for that price...It isn't going to happen!
