Yesterday, Willys (our 2-year-old Boxer and full-time chaos coordinator) got his first ride in the Ranger with our Rear Seat Delete installed. I tossed in a rectangular dog bed, and it actually stayed put really well — even without the Mil-Spec coating. Of course, if your pup is anything like Willys, the coating is worth it just for the extra “traction” when they launch into zoomies.

At first, he was all over the place, making sure every corner of the platform had been properly sniff-inspected. But once he approved the setup, he did what Boxers do best — spun around 37 times and collapsed dramatically into a nap.

He had plenty of room to stretch out, didn’t slide around, and seemed pretty pleased with himself. Honestly, it might be the first time both of us have enjoyed the ride at the same time.

So, if you’ve been wondering whether your pup will be comfortable with a Rear Seat Delete — Willys has spoken. It’s officially Boxer-approved.

How was the rear seat removal process?
There are 2 bolts on each side of the seat that attach it to the truck. Remove those, push the seat belts through the crack, and you're good to remove the seat. With two people, you can do it in just a couple of minutes. We're working on a video of the whole process to go from seat installed to seat delete installed, and back. I expect we'll be able to swap in less than 10 minutes, or at least close. We spent a lot of time on the product to make the install quick and easy.

I was totally interested in the delete kit until I seen the price 😳 I am sure a guy could rig something up for way less. Now mind you...it looks sharp for sure and my 100 pound spaz of a dog would love it.

We're not trying to compete with rigged up seat deletes. We're the complete opposite of that.

I understand this product isn't for everyone, but if you saw the cost of the materials, the machines, the team, and processes it take to make these, it would be easier to understand. Plus, about $450-500 of that is shipping (it's free on the site) and crating cost. Local pickups and installs get a $500 discount to offset those costs to keep things fair. No one else does a local pickup discount that I'm aware of. We run a very honest business, but we can't lose money selling these.

Are you able to ship this to my address in CA or is it considered freight?

I received and installed my rear seat delete the other day.

This is a quality solution. it's secured to the truck in a way that is easy to remove with all the fasteners out of the way under the platform. Very well thought out. The base has some weight to it. Very solid. The back is what you'd expect from AAL--strong yet extremely light.

Install was pretty easy. Completed it in a couple of hours. My dog is a huge fan of the seat delete. The ranger seat is pretty narrow and she never really got comfortable. Not anymore. She was going from side to side with such confidence I was worried she'd launch herself out of the window.

I was initially thinking of swapping to the seat delete when going on trips / when needed and back to the rear seat for normal everyday needs, but I think I might leave this in full time. I like that the compartments are lockable for some added security, and the mil spec coating is definitely the way to go--very durable.

It's great that the seatbelts can be left in. I was able to tuck them behind. I used some of the shipping wrap that came with the seat delete to wrap around the buckles before tucking them in the back so there is no way they'll ever rattle.

A very well thought out product. I can't imagine someone being able to put together something on par without significant access to tooling. You can tell there is experience behind this design, if not several iterations of prototypes.

The steel frame provides an extremely solid base. I'm pretty handy and there's no way I could create something out of aluminum and steel that fastens as securely to the floor with the same level of precision and such a clean design.

Hi. Sorry if my comments seemed negative. I am sure its a great product, well made and designed. Also good to know a big chunk of the cost is actually shipping. I am in Canada so the cost of purchasing and shipping plus exchange plus duties I am sure I would be North of 2K Canadian to get one. Cheers.

That looks sooo good! Thank you very much for sharing the details. Glad your dog likes it, too! K-9 approval seems tougher than human approval sometimes. 🤣🤣

How was the unboxing? We put a ton of design time into the crate your platform was in.

I really liked how the bottom platform was mounted to the crate--0 chance of it moving. The packaging was great and was pretty easy to remove. Most importantly, everything came in pristine condition.

Even my wife, who was initially very skeptical, is fully on board with the seat delete after seeing it in action. Whether that's because she liked it, or because she saw how our dog took to it, I'm unsure. Probably a bit of both!

I'll be sure to take a ton of photos to share of my upcoming adventures through the San Juans and surrounding areas!

Here are some photos of the unboxing:

I'm really glad you took photos of the packaging. We spent a ton of time on that. Very happy to see it made it undamaged. UPS has been on a tear lately. 🤣.

I'll pass on your photos to the entire team. There were a lof of hands on this product. Everyone is going to be stoked to see that it made it there safely.

Thank you!

Received and installed mine. Amazing product and the doggo and me both love it! The base went in so easy. Everything lined up perfectly. There was a glitch and did not receive mounting brackets and hardware for back wall. Contacted the vendor and they responded very quickly and sent out the missing hardware the same day. Excellent customer service!

Very happy to hear that!!! Glad it's working well for you! Thanks for sharing the photo. Do you mind if I add it to the product page in the customer photo gallery?

Sorry to hear about the back wall brackets. That's frustrating for me. We have very detailed processes in place to prevent that, but with new products like this, it can sometimes happen before everyone becomes accustomed to the required components. Thank you for your understanding on that. I will discuss with the team on Monday to ensure the BOM and packing processes are correct.

Thanks again!!!

Still loving it! Yes feel free to post on your gallery.

I understand and appreciate your attention to detail and frustration when things aren’t perfect. But again, appreciate the quick turnaround to rectify the issue. That goes a long way as we’re all human and mistakes happen. How they are handled after is what separates great vendors like you from not so great ones.

Thanks again!
