Westin EXP Topper Installed

I had a brand new color matched fiberglass ARE topper but I really wanted one of these. Somehow the stars aligned and I managed to sell the ARE and pick up a new Westin EXP. These are double walled and insulated aluminum that you need to assemble. Honestly the hardest part was unboxing everything. There are a few YT videos with tips, I have a few more so PM me if you buy one.

I wanted this for the extra roof weight capacity, durability and of course looks (Marsh Gray looks great with black). Westin says it never needs wax, but the final kicker was the power rear door lock like my ARE. It doesn't have a front slider window so I'm looking into that. Westin offers it as an option now.

Yep, blends in nicely with the black out package. I think it would look good my Carbonized Gray also.

How do you like the Westin compared to the ARE? Any pics of what your rig looked like before the swap?

ARE is the best fiberglass topper out there, and has a much better rear door (had the same on my 2019 too). But it's fiberglass so those are prone to cracking over time or rough roads. For around town it would be perfect. It also had side windows that I never used. The Westin is aluminum so it's pretty light and more secure. And it has that all important overlanding look .

Thanks for sharing! They both look fantastic. I'm torn.

I will say that I like the OEM+ look with a color matched topper.
