I didn't read the entire thread- is the back window factory tint 20% or 15%? I would like the front to match.

Follow up - Air 80 peeled up about 2” at the bottom center. Left a message with picture for my installer. I’m sure he will make it right

Got my Air80 replaced today. My installer is a Standup Guy! He replaced the whole piece instead of trying to wet it and press it back down. He told me the problem is hereditary to Ford front windows. The problem is the black dots surrounding the perimeter of the entire window. He said that the film has a hard time sticking to that part of the window. So in my case at the bottom he cut it about a ½” longer this time so that it went down a little further and hopefully get a better bite. He also said for the life of him he cannot figure out what the purpose of the black dots surrounding the perimeter of the window is for. Anyway - it is fixed. Anyone here know what the purpose of those perimeter black dots are for?

Dot matrix is what it's called. A lot of manufacturers use it on their windows. A lot of tint installers have trouble laying over it. Some people resort to even sanding down the dot matrix to allow tint to fully adhere. I will say a part of it is a skill issue in making it look good.

20%
Laid 70 over the rears which brings it to about 15% Then did 20% on the fronts. Can barely notice any difference.

Rule of thumb is it's original dye % X the new film % so .70 Ă— .20

The black dots are there for heat dissipation - most factory windshields and some rear windows have these.
