Was there ever a resolution to this for you?
I know this wasn't intended towards me though I had the same rust problem on the driveshaft and frame. I had more than a dozen items addressed due to quality upon delivery and the rust is one area that Ford wouldn't do anything about. I was more concerned about the frame personally which seems less common. In total my truck was in the shop for about three weeks. The rust and loose seat leather were the only things not remediated but they did provide me a premiumcare ESP to 5yrs or 75k miles. However, I just got the paperwork and they excluded several things including key services, interior/exterior lighting, and rental which is disappointing.

wondering if a good coating of fluid film would be a temporary, or even better than temporary, way to attack the rusty driveshaft. Here's mine, just a couple days old:

This is perfectly normal oxidation on steel components. Like another user stated, this is much ado about nothing.

Here's a link for all the aspiring metallurgists:

"oxidation results in and typically stalls at "surface discoloration," a largely cosmetic effect often referred to as patina. Rust results in a loss of metal mass."
I get that but it's just wrong to look under a brand new vehicle, where everything else is shiny and new, and see that. It hurts my eyes.

Bingo! Tacoma's are the same way. However, I do spray my frames down with Fluid Film, CRC, or alike to get the real corrosion at bay.
