I have a '25 Ford Ranger XL 4x4 with the 5 ft. bed. I was also a lucky pick from @TreadAuto to receive and test the Michelin Bed Mat.

After unboxing it, I put it in the bed and it was a great fit. Length and width were right on and the corners were perfect. Since it was in a box for a few days of traveling, it too about 4 days in 90+ degree heat to have the few creases and bumps flatten out.

When that was done I put a few pieces of lumber and a roll of gardening wire mesh to try it out. I did city driving back and forth to work for a few days then took it on a 80 mile round trip freeway drive. I'm a late breaker and ten to take my corners a little faster than I should, but I have to say the bed mat did it's job. The lumber did not move much if at all, the roll of wire did, but I tend to think that it was because it's a "roll" so it did roll and end up by the tail. But I did not hear anything.

As you can see, the wood barely moved. The wire, rolled as I expected it to.
Overall I'm very satisfied with this product and I'm looking forward to buying the tail gate protector.

I’ve also got the Michelin bed mat and am very happy with it. It fits great, even in the corners. The texture is aggressive enough to keep things in place, but not so aggressive that it’s uncomfortable to kneel on.

Haven’t tried the knee test yet…that will be another test with Tylenol.

Personally, I like the mat because the liner although textured somewhat, is still smooth enough that things will slide around if not secured.
With the mat, I can throw things in there and not have to secure them every single time.

I see, indeed a stickier base would be awesome. I use big plastic boxes to put my stuff in, and yes they move around a lot!

I never had a bed mat. Is there an advantage over a strong liner? Is it only to protect the liner for resale?
I have a line-x liner and a bed mat both. The liner is great for protecting the bed from rust from the inside of the bed. It’s no help under the bed obviously. The bed mat is better at keeping things from sliding around and gives another layer of dent and scratch protection if that matters to you. I like having the liner under the bed mat do that rust doesn’t form when water gets trapped between the mat and the bed.

I bought the Michelin bed mat. Fits very well, grippy surface so my empty totes stay in place. I use the totes to carry groceries and such which I don't want sliding all over the bed.
When I got it I laid it on my driveway for about an hour to get it flat. Laid out nice and flat in the bed of my pickup. If you are looking for a bed mat I would recommend this one for fit, finish and nonslip surface.

Are there any issues with this mat trying to lift at highway speeds if there is nothing sitting on it?

I have driven interstates speeds and the mat stays in place. It hasn’t tried to lift up at all.

I got the mat to kinda wedge under the lip of the bed at the front. It’s a great fit overall.

I have to admit some sceptism about your wood boards remaining neatly stacked after several commutes and 80 highway miles.

In my experience stacked wood ends up everywhere within a mile of the lumber yard under normal braking and turning if it isn’t well restrained with bungees or straps.

The top boards did slide on top of each other. The board on contact with the mat did not. Your mileage may vary.

My bed mat hasn't tried to lift, even at our texas 85mph normal highway speeds.

The one on the tailgate tries to let wind behind it so it gets kind of loose looking at the tailgate top but it has never torn
