You are completely missing the point here. I realize I wasn’t promised a delivery time. At the time I looked there were still 2023’s available. I was told I should wait for the 2024. I was told it takes about 8 weeks to build and ship. (My brother ordered a car and it took right around 8 weeks and that included the 3 weeks it sat at the rail yard in our town waiting for the inspection before the dealer could pick it up) It’s been 8 1/2 months so far for this one with no end in sight. Ford knows when they plan on shipping them. Just say when. If it’s April fine. If it’s next January - fine. Just communicate! For weeks the dealer could see it was built. Magically 3 days ago they were updated that now it is not built. How does it go from built to not built? I had a sticker and now I don’t have access it anymore. I have to pay for a trip we planned April 1st. This is not my first new car. It’s actually #15. It is the first and last that I will ever order. The dealer won’t just hold it if it shows up while I go on my trip. The most they have ever held was overnight because I came in too late in the day to
choose what I wanted AND complete the paperwork before closing time. Since Ford can’t communicate and be honest I have to make a decision on which to give up. I don’t want to give up both and honestly never thought it would take a year or longer when I was told about 8 weeks. I get there was a strike that delayed things some but I just don’t understand why they won’t say when they will start sending to the dealers. If they don’t plan to ship until the month of (whatever it is they have chosen)why can’t they just say so? I can be patient - just don’t like the lack of communication.
You Pre ordered a vehicle, it wasn't released and you were definitely not promised a delivery time. You may not want to order a vehicle or anything because you have zero patience, but that's on you, not Ford or your dealership. Don't blame you having to cancel your Europe trip(not sure how it has any effect on it either way) on them.

Not sure how Ford’s system would handle this, but if your truck was one of the unfortunate ones that had some major QC issues, it could have been scrapped and a new one will be built in its place.

Again, I have no idea how that would look in the dealer’s tracking system or online, but that is one way it could go from being built to not built.

Really hoping that didn’t happen. If that is what has happened I would hope they would say something so I could reorder it or talk to the dealer about getting one they ordered for the lot. I have come to the conclusion you can no longer count on Ford to communicate with their customers or the dealerships for that matter.

JT91299224: I would think that you can take your trip. Just let the dealership know your situation. Did you put money down? If not, offer to give them something. If you have been waiting that long, I would hope that a dealership would work with you. Worst case, they set it out as advertisement to draw folks in, even if it is "sold" and they can't let anyone test drive it. In today's world of easy and free media, a dealership needs to be very careful about how they treat the customer.

Sounds like a horrible dealer.
After you bought multiple vehicles from them they threaten to sell your custom built and ordered Ranger from you if it gets delivered while you're out of town, forcing you to choose between timely purchase of a new truck or cancel your trip.
As soon as they told me that, I would leave a 0/1 star google review warning all future customers. Hopefully there is a better dealer you can go to that isn't too far out of the way, otherwise you're held hostage by convenience and there's not much you can do.
If you leave too many bad reviews, a dealer like that could start retaliating via the service dept. Not worth the fight when they have all the leverage.
If there's a bad-faith dealer listing on here, I'd name the dealer there. No one should do business with such a shady shop.

From my experience in purchasing a 2021 Bronco, Ford only knows roughly when a model will start shipping. They have no idea when a particular vehicle will be pulled from the order banks, assembled, or shipped.
Good news is non-Raptor Ranges appear to have started moving to dealers just a couple days ago.

I've got: "Activation Pending" and "Connected features are being enabled."
Then there is a button below that also says: "Activation Pending" and when I press on it, it tells me to "Turn the vehicle on and follow steps...turn vehicle off again."

That's the part that really sticks in my craw. The dealer I bought from in Louisiana keeps blowing me off now that they have a deposit. I emailed 3 times about local Graphics shops in their area, no response. Then I tried to get them to remove the $750 graphics from Ford, and I got "I'll see what I can do." Translation: "You're interrupting my texting and Tik Tokking!"

So I'm stuck with a $750 Graphics package that I didn't want. I'm going to attempt to have them knock that off of the mark up, but don't hold out much hope for that.

I keep hearing "Since COVID, nobody wants to work." A more accurate statement wold be "Most people refuse to get off their ass and do their job!"

They are actually a wonderful dealer. I can’t expect someone to hold a truck for up to a month when there is next to nothing for inventory on the lots these days. I have nothing bad to say about the dealer at all. It’s FORD that I’m mad at. It’s not the same company that my father worked & retired from. We can’t do the paperwork ahead of time because then I don’t have the full warranty and we don’t have the actual amount. Hell with the issues the airlines are having a door could fall off, a wheel could fall off and I’d never get back to pick it up. We could disappear over the ocean. Ford knows when they will start shipping. They have to schedule the spots on the trains. (I’m far enough away that mine will come by rail). They can’t just call the train and say be here tomorrow. You are definitely right about COVID - it was just an excuse to be lazy.

You can always add a full warranty at a later date..you aren't required to add it on the day you purchase the vehicle. Most people like to shop around for that anyway as different dealerships can give better deals than what your salesperson offers. Maybe I'm misunderstanding here.

I would think the rest of the paperwork could be sent & signed digitally. Any other contract can be handled via Docusign, I don't see any reason why a car sale couldn't also be handled that way given the circumstances. Or you could offer to put down a larger amount of cash so they guarantee it can wait until you get back to the states.

I understand a dealership wants to move inventory as fast as possible, but it's not costing them anything to park the truck you ordered in back for a week or two until you can come and pick it up personally, especially if the bank can transfer the money while you're in Europe.

My bad I also thought it was the dealer that told you to get the 2024 and not the 2023 and that they were the one's that gave you the timeline of 8 weeks. I guess you actually talked to someone at Ford who set and gave you bad expectations.

I expected to have mine before the end of the yr and my original build date was Sept 18th. No ne ever told me it would be here by then when I ordered it however.
I would say about 2 months of those delays are probably in Ford hands and anything beyond that related to the strike.

Generally paperwork cant be signed until the vehicle shows in stock in a dealers inventory and they own it. Every brand is different but we can not contract or report a car sold until its on a truck from the port in Baltimore or the prep center in Alabama, once its on a truck it appears in our inventory digitally and we can contract it and report it as a retailed vehicle. Additionally vehicles need to be registered with at least a temp tag in order to be allowed on the roads. the ford factory is not going tp handle all of that and its the reason why dealerships exist, so serve as distribution hubs.

You think the dealer is great, yet they refuse to work with you when you may be out of town during delivery? Instead they tell you to your face they will just sell it to the first person who comes along with the means and wants to buy it?

Ford starting shipping Rangers. They'll email you when they know when yours will ship, if your crappy dealer put your email in with the order.

The more I think about your story, the more I think you're making it all up and trolling. You nonchalantly talk about being in a horrific plane crash (a very real possibility these days) and are planning on going anyway?
If out of state dealers can complete a Bronco purchase all digitally and deliver it to your house, I can't imagine any Ford dealer would refuse to work with you to buy the Ranger you custom ordered if you happen to be out of town when it's delivered. They want to sell it and you're the most guaranteed buyer.

Your story doesn't add up. Defending a dealer who tells you to go pound sand, aforementioned plane quip, purchasing a large number of new Fords, family member happens to have worked for the company, and full of excuses to everyone offering help/criticism.

I'm out. If you're real, I wish you good luck and safe travels.

Why would I not take the Ford Warranty? I’ve never purchased a different warranty. I’ve always taken the one that comes with the car/truck/SUV that I’ve bought. It comes with the truck. I did docusign for my house so I know about it but not planning on taking the computer with me. This is a fun trip not work related - no computers allowed!!! That’s the agreement we all made when we planned the trip.

I’m sorry you don’t believe me that’s your choice. Maybe you don’t pay attention to the news. There have been issues lately with planes. 2 months ago an Alaskan Airlines plane had a door plug fall out on a flight that left Portland OR for somewhere in California. They were in the air when that happened. A couple days ago a United Airlines plane had a wheel fall off while they were taking off out of California headed to Japan. Things happen - alot recently with the airlines. Check the news if you don’t believe me. I fly every other month at minimum but you never know. I know the dealer will hold it for a few days but to expect them to hold it for a month is unreasonable especially when they ordered it without asking for anything down and were willing to let me back out of it if I wanted to during the strike. I would have gotten a F150 but those are too long for the garage. I started with Ford when I was 16. I bought the first 5 cars outright. I started leasing so every 2-3 years I have a new car. Leases were 2 years when I started leasing then went to 3 years. My father did work for Ford. Ford Motor Credit to be exact. They used to treat their customers and especially their dealers better. The dealers are being left in the dark too. Believe what you want. I do get emails from Ford. Last one stated they’d update in no more than 45 days. Last one came Monday on day 46. Still apparently being built where it’s been for almost 60 days. Ford sent me the link so I have my sticker too. Just since you think I’m a troller here’s my email from Ford.
