I had performance tune done not truck which was great. I then had weird rattling noises while cranking it first thing in the morning and of course that was cam phasers and got that take care of and now a short time after all this I am sitting in a parking spot with truck running and then it starts sounding weird and shuts off. I tried to start it like 8 times and it would just struggle and not turn over. I used ford roadside assistance to tow it to my dealer where I bought it and other work done today. My dealer called me and turns out need a new engine!!! - They said " 3 cylinders were not firing - under pressured etc - have to almost replace the engine - 3-5 days to get parts - 3 days or so to fix it"

I am definitely disappointed in a 2024 with 6,000 miles having issues like this but at least it is under warranty.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

Curious what performance tune was installed. Did it get returned to stock tune with cam phaser work or was the performance tune left in? Think I would insist on a whole new engine but I don’t know all the specific details of all the work done

I've owned two Rangers, four F-150s, one T-Bird and three Mustangs from 1987 to 2010. Ford certainly has fallen a long way. I'd put the quality of their current engines in a class with Hyundai and Kia. I really wish they'd get their act together. I like to get a new Ranger but......................

I understand where your coming from but the 2.3 and 2.7 are pretty reliable.

Was this the Ford Performance Tune or something else?

Says the owner of 2 vehicles from the manufacturer of 14 of the most unreliable brands in existence. ?

Yes, besides all those Fords I've also owned six Challengers, one Ram 1500, and one Jeep Grand Cherokee. Brand for brand they have been the most trouble free and reliable. Ford came in second and my experiences with several Generic Motors vehicles were a disaster. So all I can do is go off of experience regardless of what some paid reviewers, fan boys who make excuses or "at the moment" statistics may show. Two years ago Dodge was the first or second most reliable make. So day to day, year to year things can change. Keep in mind those stats go by how many problems reported. You can have a vehicle that blew and engine and another make that had a rattle and discolored trim piece. According to the stats the rattle and trim car is less reliable because it had twice the problems of the blown engine car. But which would you rather own? When I was looking into the new Tacoma also with many problems, their fan boys were saying how reliable their 19** or 20** Tacoma with umpteen hundred thousand miles on them were. They don't realize that, that was then, this is now. It's an all new model slapped together in Mexico. If Chrysler had not changed hands weekly for the past 20 years and they went ahead with their plans for a new mid size truck, if it had the 3.6 V6 (awarded by Ward's Auto World Ten Best Engines seven times) and ZF 8 speed I would have been first in line. But that company is being destroyed by Stellantis who know nothing about Americans and our love of vehicles and free travel. So I'm back looking at Fords. But until I read no carbon buildup with the 2.3 by the addition of port injection or that the cam phaser problem has been solved or deleted, then I'll just have to wait. You can be blind to the problems, I mean a bedside that will collapses with more than 88 pounds on the rails, c'mon man. Looks like they may have fixed that but the question pops up in your mind, what kind of engineers do they have that stuff like this goes into production. I hear cam phaser problems have been ongoing for many years. Apparently they just don't care.

Don’t waste your time responding to that account.
All they are gonna do is tell you to contact your closest dealer…
Hmm … not my experience. They assisted the dealer tech chasing down an intermittent airbag issue, and once resolved I ended up with a Ford branded 3/50 maintenance warranty at no cost.
