I have some Ford points left and was considering getting a hood protector. It appears they have two kinds. One with a "bump" and one without. I like the look of the one without better, but was unsure if that "bump" actually helped with anything. Also, does it obscure driver view at all. I'd like to hear from both parties that have them if possible or simply your take. Thank you.

On my previous truck I had the AVS Aeroskin II (with the hump), absolutely does not block any visibility. Im not 100% sure if I will be getting another one for my 24 Ranger as the previous started to show significant sun fading after about 2-3 years (to be fair the window trim was also showing some serious fading as well). I definitely do not think having the hump provided any meaningful “deflection advantage” compared to not having the hump.

Overall I still think it is a good investment to protect the leading edge of the hood from getting chips.

I too installed the Aeroskin II with the hump on my '24 Lariat. While it's only been on there for a little over a month, I've had one, yes one bug splatter on my windshield and that was almost at the roof line. Is this due to the "hump" changing the aerodynamics so bugs flie (pun intended) over the roof, I don't know. And yes, there is no impediment to the driver's view.

I went without the bump this time. On my 19' I had the bump but still got bug splatter. I'm really looking to protect the nose of my hood.
