How well do these bug deflectors work?
I don’t want to spend a hundred bucks on something and have it be a “meh”-level value addition to the truck…

bug wise, so-so.

keeping rocks from destroying the paint on the leading edge of your hood, 100% great.

they are supposed to change the air flow slightly over the front of hte truck to make bugs miss the windshield. maybe it does work but i still get lots of bug splats on the windshield. i used to get lots of rock hits on the front of the hood that dinged and broke the paint on previous vehicles. so this time i immediately did a bug/rock guard so i don't all that paint damage on the hood.

I live in Louisiana, bug capitol of the world, yet I get few bugs splashes on the windshield. I think just the design and aerodynamics of the front end that keeps most bugs off the windshield. In fact, water droplets on my hood after a wash, don't move much, even at 50 MPH.
But as superj said, it protects the leading edge of the hood, which is why I will install one. Plus, I like the look of the stick-on ones.

thats true, the water stays in place on the hood pretty well. so the aerodynamics from the high pressure wall in front of the grill works good to push the air up over the hood and low windshield area.

Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve never had too much of a problem with rock chips on the leading edge of the hood… when rocks come my way they always aim right for the center of the windshield

I like the winglets. What company and what did you pay?

Air Plex, it's a New Zealand based company that does OE stuff for European cars. They don't ship to US directly, but their distributors do. I ordered through an off-road based UK distributor that exports to US on good old e-bay. Ever since I took the plunge, several others have and liked it, even some here locally did it too after seeing mine in person.

You'll pay through the rear end for shipping and tariffs but given that's not a super expensive part in the first place, we're talking around $180~$200 total. For me, it was worth it since it offered the most coverage, including the leading edges of the fenders and has an OE look that I really personally like with the matt color.

Hard to tell it apart from the grille in terms of color, so it matches the truck well. It all depends on what you want and no solution is perfect. This one is very secure, but it can be a bit challenging to install initially (mostly just getting the tabs under the hood gasket).

Also, I did have to make a slight modification to mine. Automatic car wash blowers are pretty darn strong and the one by me was pushing the center down far enough it was rubbing on the edge of the hood, so I used a heat gun and made a ridge in the center which resolved that issue. Other than that, it's been 100% solid. Heavy duty, love the matte black, cleans off easily and has stop quite a few stones already.

Yeah I ordered the same one but have not installed it. Good to see a picture of the mate black. Did you have to adjust the hood stop at all?
