Hood deflector

The Ford dealership where I bought my 24 said not to do anything stick on. Their experience was that between extreme cold and car washes, the deflectors crack. "Won't last two years"
I'm in northern MN though, so it might not be an issue in warmer climates. I like how they look though!

I also live in the Midwest (tundra), something to think about.

I live in South Dakota where is gets extremely cold. It’s has been as cold as -45 degree with windchill. I have taken it through multiple car washes multiple times in the last year and a half and have seen no signs if it coming off. As for concerns about highway speeds causing it to come off, I have made multiple trips from South Dakota to Colorado driving 80+ mph with 25+ mph head winds/crosswinds and it showed no signs of coming off and no noise. As for debris, I have seen so signs of any.
Over all I‘ve no regrets with my decision to have it installed.

That uses 3M auto motive tape, the same as emblems. It's not coming off, even if you want it to, without some serious work.
As for the screw on ones, I don't like them. Some are held away from the surface with small rubber pads and screwed under the hood. The one I had on an F150 vibrated in the wind, wearing through the paint where the pads contacted the hood. Plus, leaves and other stuff can get between it and the hood.

I had the stick-on on my F150 for 4 years. It went through temps from 18-102 degrees, even snow in south Louisiana. I also had a subscription to the car wash and washed it at least twice a week, sometimes more. Never had any issues other than a few small spots from rocks.
Put the same one on my 25 Ranger and not worried about it.
As for sticking it on, I don't plan to take it off...ever.

Yup. A few times, zero issues.

Good to know. I bought one with points but never installed it because I was afraid of what the carwash would do to it.

I had a screw on AVS brand one on my 2005 Ranger and 2010 Explorer for 10 years and zero issues.
Stick-ons scare me. I don't think I'll be getting one for my 2024?..........probably not

says right on the ford one. do not use automatic touch washes, hand wash or automatic touchless wash only.

when I was test fitting the deflector. I laid it down, test fit it. then tapped off the outline, then Took it off and used the prep pad. went to test fit it again, but just hover, and one corner accidentally touched the where the prep pad wiped and I had the red backing left on the double sided tape... and I had a job removing the deflector, the red backing started pealing off. so that was just the prep pad grabbing on, and it was STRONG grab. it does have drain holes(break in the 3m tape) on the bottom and I think the bottom sides.

its after surviving a few hurricane force wind storms since june without issue. and hand wash with a pressure washer thus far.

Ordered mine from a UK distributor as it's from a New Zealand mfg. that does OE stuff for Europe. I wanted something with winglets to protect the fender edges as that's where most of my rock chips were occuring.

Uses push pins under the hood and clips with PPF pads on the edges. Only issue I had is automatic car wash blowers, they would push it down so hard it would rub against the hood right at the center edge, so I used a heat gun to move the center out further a bit (put a ridge in the center about 3 inches long) and no longer have that issue.

Coverage is good, looks OE.

You can see the ridge I added in this pic right in the middle of the deflector (looks like a small bump) that solved the car wash blower contact issue:

Had a screw on one on my 1986 250. It was sort of a see through blue and it stood straight up.
Thing was really cool.
They should bring them back.

I had a 2000 f-150 screw on deflector, I'm old school myself but a lot of good responses with the self adhesive

my screw in one just lost a screw a few weeks ago so i changed to a stick on one. so far, so good
