Shoot as often as possible. We have an excellent range available to us. Everything you can imagine from 2000 downward and NRA certified for both instruction and competition.

I’m also a retired gunsmith so, I have a few firearms. A few I’ve completed over the past few weeks, a couple 308’s

Nothing like that, but do get out for target practice for hunting (mostly deer (MN) and elk (
Colorado)).
Use a 25-year old Remington 30-06 pump w/scope.
Lucked-out on the lottery and got a bear license this year. Bagged a 320# (fat) sow. Had multiple sows with cub(s) coming to the bait and game cam, but finally got a lone one I could identify as being without cubs to visit my stand.
One smaller one even likes to cruise the deck at the lake home.

I used to go out shooting on the regular when I lived in Oregon - BLM logging roads, shoot whatever you want at whatever you want. Since I moved back to Texas, I'm limited to indoor ranges and all the rules that come with it. Paper is fine to keep you sharp, but I do miss stuffing tannerite into anything that'll sit still long enough, old computers, switching from pistol to rifle to skeet while standing in the same spot then lighting the grill for a snack.

To answer your question... not as regularly as I want/used to.

Fairly often, private land, with grandkids, son, son in law, brother and myself. Mostly rifles but some pistols. Mostly 22LR, 223, 30-06, 7 Mag, black powder(rarely). Yep, the tannerite is fun 😜

I share your pain. I thought it would be a good hobby to take up pre pandemic. Nice indoor range here. Then the virus hit & I went back just once & now everything is illegal.

Shoot frequently. S&W revolvers and milsurp rifles are my jam. M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, AK47, Yugo SKS. Many S&W in my collection, but my favorites are all in .41 Magnum.

Reload for all calibers that I shoot.

starting this weekend (grouse opener) I’ll shoot almost every weekend through the end of the year. Grouse, pheasant, wild turkey. Browning Citori Feather Lightning 20ga O/U. Other than that, not much else. I’ll be putting a roof top tent on the back of the Raptor along with a Diamondback cover (once they make them) so I can go out for multi-day with the dog.

Nope, but I really need to pick up a hunting rifle to practice. I plan to start hunting game when I move out west for food. Elk is so fricking tasty.

Use to go hunting all the time for ducks, turkeys, pheasants, but then a lottery system started. I did the duck lottery a few times. I got picked once, but it was in the middle of the week and I couldn't take off from work.

I haven't shot a pistol since I got out of the military, but I am going to buy one now. I bought some land in southern Tennessee for my travel trailer. I want to have a pistol in case I run into a bear. Any suggestions for a pistol?

You are going to need something with some stopping power. I would look at .357 Mag or .45 caliber. They have a fairly big(heavy) bullet whereas say a 9 mil might have a good magazine size but you are just going to piss the bear off.

Are you being serious? You don't need a gun for black bears. A pistol wouldn't even do anything but piss it off. All you need to be is loud, and if for some reason that doesn't scare it off, use bear spray. Check out the cinnamon black below. I said hey a couple times and it wandered off. That's it, and that's about as big as a black bear comes. They don't like people, and if you are bear aware and keep your scented items (food, deodorant, et al) away from your campsite in a bear proof container, you'll likely never see the things.
