Bear Pistol needs to be big bore. 44 mag and upwards ie; 454, 500 S&W at least, in a wheel gun no smaller. It’s the only thing that will put one down, barring a large caliber rifle.Are you being serious? You don't need a gun for black bears. A pistol wouldn't even do anything but piss it off. All you need to be is loud, and if for some reason that doesn't scare it off, use bear spray. Check out the cinnamon black below. I said hey a couple times and it wandered off. That's it, and that's about as big as a black bear comes. They don't like people, and if you are bear aware and keep your scented items (food, deodorant, et al) away from your campsite in a bear proof container, you'll likely never see the things.

Every-time you squeeze the trigger, you want a round down range. No jams from limp wristing an automatic….

Stay away from semi-automatics for this type of work as well.
