Help the dummy here. What do you mean by "tune"?

All of the smart ones have!
Loving it so far.
Agreed, I was told by 2 dealerships in 2 different states that it doesn't need to be a dealership unless you absolutely want to spend the money. The only thing they emphasized was to make sure to use a battery tender so the voltage stays above the recommended level or you risk "bricking" your truck.

You have to have the dealership submit for the warranty of the tune. if you dont want that then sure go for it. it is clearly stated multiple times.

Enjoy no warranty
They would only be able to deny your warranty IF a parts failure was related to the tune and more specifically if you installed it yourself IF the tune caused parts failure was being blamed on the way in which the tune was installed…

A gamble any smart person should take!

FWIW, yesterday I registered my tune with Ford Performance. I was required to submit:
1. Receipt for the purchase of the Procal Tune
2. Receipt from the dealership that installed the Procal Tune and,
3. My VIN #

I have no idea what is covered or not covered by the Procal warranty but I do know that I paid a lot for the truck and bought a 100k/10yr extended warranty on top of that. I figured an extra $150 to have the Tune installed by my dealer to give me peace of mind that i have not done anything to jeopardize my warranties was worth it for me.
Did I waste $150? Maybe, but I sleep better. It wouldn’t be the first time I wasted $ being overly cautious.

I prepped everything prior to installing the performance tune. Had my local ASE mechanic hit the program button for the Procal4 install. Tipped him $40. Emailed the paperwork to Ford Performance and they emailed back confirmation. No way I was going to pay a dealership hundreds for what a 10 year old with computer literacy can do.

Side note - I've definitely noticed that a tank of gas last longer. Also witnessed 25 psi boost. Better/smoother shifting.

Incorrect. I submitted the necessary paperwork myself. Which I validated I could do by calling them and speaking directly to their parts warranty division prior to installation.

The assumption is most people dont have a pocket ASE certified mechanic to get the paperwork too submit for themselves.

I didn't either. I simply called my local Lube and Brake Service where I get all my vehicles state inspection at and asked to speak to the ASE Mechanic. Told him what I needed from him and why. He agreed. He pressed a touch screen button and wrote up an RO. He was happy to get $40 cash for it.

As mentioned, that is not readily available for folks and is not guaranteed.

You made an incorrect statement. I have proven it so. I have proven to the community that there are alternative options that work fine. Just take your "L" and move along.
