Forgive me if this should be posted elsewhere. Or not at all?

I am NOT a dealer rep. And I’m not even looking for any kind or referral. I’m just putting the info out there. I stopped by the dealership i bought my truck from to pick up some paperwork. I have a friend thats been looking for a RR so I inquired about one i saw on the lot.

Outside of what they told me, i have no other info on it.
Supposedly, it was sold previously and the purchaser had done all the paperwork online and everything was signed sealed and ready to be delivered. But when the buyer showed up this morning to pick it up decided they didn’t like the white. So it should become available soon, if not already. When i left they were trying to figure out how to sell it, as technically it is a used vehicle now. But it technically never left the lot.

so if anyone is interested it might be worth a call. It’s at Elliott Team Ford in Navasota, TX

Sounds a bit suss? If everything was all signed and a done deal, there’s no way the dealer would have let the guy walk just due to not liking the colour?
thats part of what they were trying to figure out, if they can just cancel the sale, or just take it back in as a trade or whatever. This is a small town dealership and this is probably one of their first few times doing a fully online sale and/or an online sale biting them in the ass. And you may be 100% right, idk. i can only go on what the sales manager told me after he stepped out of the “meeting” they were having about it. 🤷‍♂️

it all had apparently started just before i got there.

It happens. Rarely, but it does happen. But if he never took the vehicle, it wouldn’t be considered used either.

Never knew car dealerships could be decent humans... That's gotta be as common as seeing a unicorn out in the wild right?

And isn't it if it's been registered then it is now a 'used' car?

Car dealerships are just people. Decent and otherwise.
In full disclosure I’ve never worked in Texas so there may be something I don’t know. But every state I have been in, if the customer didn’t take the vehicle it isn’t sold. It’s not on their website yet, but I’m guessing when it is it’ll be listed as brand new.

I have worked at dealerships in Texas and will echo what @HighDesertRanger said:
If the customer didn't take delivery, they would simply unwind the deal, and it would be brand new.
The part that was odd was the "technically it is a used vehicle now"—that doesn't square, and seems to imply there's more to the story.

As long as the title was never issued, its good to go as new, to the dmv. I already went through that here in texas. The title decies if its new or used so if the dealer already submitted the title paperwork, and thebstate already issued, then it will be used.

I find it hard to be lieve that was done if the contract was not signed though.

That place is north of victoria a bit? Nevermind, googled it. Its northwest of houston
