2024 Ford Ranger ejection mitigation recall

The issue: The side curtain airbags on 2024–2026 Rangers may tear when they deploy because they can come into contact with the B-Pillar inner reinforcements. This issue prevents the vehicle from meeting the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 226 for ejection mitigation.

Approximately 100,900 trucks from the 2024 to 2026 model years are affected. Ford dealers will install protective shields to prevent the airbags from tearing, free of charge. The airbags themselves do not need to be replaced. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed in September 2025. The parts are anticipated to be available in December 2025.

I got it, but I'm waiting to see what kind of ejection we're talking about. Can I do it on the fly? Can I choose passenger? Hypothetically, of course.

I got one for my 2024 3.2 ranger xlt fx4 4x4. Says Ford will notify me sometime in Dec to get.

i think the seat belt does more to keep you from flying through the window.

i feel like the airbags are more to give you a black eye so people believe you got in an accident

I got mine a week or so ago, had already seen the news article so I wasn't shocked. I read that figuring out a shield to protect the bag was in the works. I wonder if they will just pull down the door moulding to access the bags or remove the headliner? If they opt for the latter I am going to see if they would install the pre cut sound deadener in the roof plus run a pos and neg wire front to back, unhooked of course, so I can install a dash cam. I would be happy to pay the extra few bucks for the few minutes it would take. Maybe talk to the tech off to the side . My luck it will be a 5 minute fix per bag.

I received this for my 2025 Ranger. I also got something for my brakes I need to have taken care of, some software thing.

I had a notice years ago for my Honda passenger side airbag but since only my wife rode there I ignored that one. My dog rides in my Ranger so I'll stay on top of it.
