OEM Tire Replacement- Your Choice for Raptor?

My K03’s are approaching 40k miles and I am starting to consider the next set.

I dont plan to buy K03’s again and I am curious what others are leaning towards as a replacement?

Has anyone tried the Sumitomo tires? They have a good review on the Discount Tire website although there are only about five reviews.

These look good. Hows the road noise compared to the K03's?

Maybe slightly louder but not much. Mine have additional poke from my 1" spacers. That can make them a bit louder. Being tucked under the fenders muffles them some.

I am running Falken Wildpeak At4Ws stock 285/70R17s On both my Ranger Raptors.
However I am also running Bronco SAS wheels on both for the +30 offset for better stance and deeper looking wheels.

Note in this pic the 25 model still had the OEM BFGs and OEM wheels.

Handling I would say is slightly better in most situations.
I know the Falken's have been really good in wet and dry situations.
Ride is similar both are 4 ply tires I believe.
The tread width is one of the things I like best about the At4W. It has the widest actual tread width of any tire of that OEM 285/70R17 size I have been able to find. I went through a lot of specs trying to find a tire as wide as I could get without jumping into a heavy 10 ply tire.

The 295/70R17s I was running had a significant fuel milage penalty and a slightly stiffer ride too, plus being a 34" tire and running it on a +30 offset Bronco SAS wheel, they did give me some rubbing on the crash bars as well. The Falken SL P285/70R17s I am now running on both my RRs I have tires that measure out the stock 33" height with about 1 inch wider tread width then the BFG OEM tires and that is very very close to the 295 Yokohama's in actual width. So, I have the stance I wanted with the +35 rims and the wider tires and no rubbing, and got my fuel mileage and slightly smoother ride back.

I was mainly thinking acceleration in wet I know is better with the Falkens, so I imagine braking would be as well never had to put that to the test to really know. I pulled the BFG off relativly quickly with both my 2024 and my 2025 model RRs.
The Falkens are also quieter as well.

I live in the tropic with lots of rain most of the years. Went with Cooper AT3 4S. No complaint.

Asking for thoughts/input, as after market fitment is new to me. As I await the 2026 RR pricing and colors to either order one or buy a 2025 near me, I am debating getting rid of the OEM rims and tires at delivery. Not a KO 2 or 3 fan. I do not offroad, drive a mix of mostly paved county roads that turn into dirt and gravel, and some highway. Rain amount varies by year. Winters are cold but mild; snow varies but is usually gone in a couple days. Get more ice than snow and I don't have to drive on it unless I need to do it. So I am looking at Black Rhino Congo rims 17 x 8.5 with +35 offset in black with Continental Terraincontact A/T tires OEM size. So with the +35 rim offset, does that affect handling or suspension from +55 offset? If so, just keep the OEM rims and put on the Connies? Or any other suggestions for mostly paved driving but keep that RR tire look.

I was wondering if Cooper will be coming out with the Discoverer Road+Trail A/T in 285/70R17. Has that aggressive look, but did really will on-road. But during the test drive on a used RR with 8k miles, the oem tires rode better than I expected.

It's E-load rated tire (10 ply) but only 56 lbs, and looks quite sharp, with significant ice\water sipes plus some side grip for mud. Looks pretty sharp too. Warrantied for 70,000 miles. Specs are impressive, but it's so new it needs some real world testing.

They don't make it in 35's yet.

For comparison BFG K03 E-rated is 60 lbs and It is not particularly effective in water\ice scenarios.

Do they have tests for off road performance as well?

Interesting chart, but the "winner" in that test could very well wind up getting you stuck off-road.

Nope. Onceaneagle was asking about a tire that looks aggressive, but he's not too concerned about more serious off-road use. 90% of my driving will be on-road, with the other 10% moderate off-roading and sand driving at the Outer Banks beaches (where less aggressive treads actually do better). In my case, I've done well with Michelin Defender LTX tires on a 2005 Tundra. But it's time to spend some retirement money, and the Ranger Raptor is just too much fun to pass up! LOL!

That plus the rub , plus the smoother ride, plus the better mileage, were all what led me to make the swap from my LT295s 34” load range E 10 ply Yokahoma tires to the P285 Falken AT4W SL load range.

I liked that Falken combo so much that was one of the first things I did to my 2025 RR.
Both my 24 and 25 RRs are running that same combo. Very happy with them.

From a looks or stance standpoint, which was a key element in my deep dive to find a better tire then the 295 Yokahoma tires. The Falken SL p285 was the only tire I found that had the tread width almost the same as the 295s.

I really wanted to keep that 295 width or as close as I could get without the load range E weight, and the 33 height fixed the rub, since I am running the Bronco +30 offset rims.

I really love the overall stance and overall effect these Falken P285s had on the truck.
I did try that same wheel with the OEM BFGs much skinnier tread just didn’t have the look / stance I wanted.

Man, I sure like the way those Falcons look! Sounds like they outperform the KO3's on the road, too.
