I have a 2025 Ranger Lariat 2.7. I am frequently getting the "hands on wheel" alert. I had this on my 2021 Ridgeline but the Ranger is much more sensitive and therefore more frequent if I don't have both hands on the wheel at the right place. It is annoying to me. I tried some strips of Velcro on the wheel thinking there must be a pressure sensitive sensor involved. It may have helped a little. But it is still too frequent for me. I appreciate the safety intent but it is not like I am driving with my knee. The system seems to want both hands in a specific place. Has anybody found a work around?

The best method I've found is to rest my hand on the steering wheel such that it's weight is constantly applying a little torque to the steering wheel and you can feel the system tugging the wheel back to stay in the lane.

I don't think I've ever seen the 'Hands on wheel' warning, even when use lane assist.
What I have seen is the Driver Alert Warning that says Rest Recommended. Driver Alert uses the front camera. That alert can be turn off.

Indeed, the system is sensing steering input, and i would say requires too much. I get alot of rental cars and usually just a lil wiggle will satisfy the system, but on fords you have to damn near start a lane change to satisfy it sometimes.

I got a buddy whose wife drives a VW SUV and he said he can turn lane assistance on and then wedge a 3/4 full water bottle into one of the smaller holes on the steering wheel and it will basically drive itself for as long as he wants on the open highway.

That def. doesn't do the trick on my RR.

I’m guessing all new vehicles with lane assist have to keep annoying you with this message. Same thing happens for my 2025 Civic and 2019 Rogue. The Honda seems to be the most aggressive of the three.

I have never heard the hands on wheel warning. Ive had the lane assist on but I normally drive with it off. That warning would drive me crazy. Could there be a problem with the sensors? You could always go test drive another ranger and see if it’s your driving habits or the truck.

It's all 6G rangers, there's about 20 threads about it here.

It's when you are using adaptive cruise control + lane centering + lane keep assist.

Yeah, don't do that:
