This weekend I'm going to visit a couple of Ford dealers, looking at the 2025 XLT and Lariat models.
I have some questions before I go...

Of the dozens of Ranger window stickers that I viewed online, only a couple include the Convenience package.
Ford's site shows the Convenience package available as an option for 2025, yet hardly any Rangers have it.

With the Convenience package you get: wireless charging, LED bed lighting, and 120v/400w in-cab and in-bed power outlets.

I think the LED bed lighting would be a useful option. If you have it on your truck, how good is it?

Any opinions on the sound quality between the B&O audio system and the standard audio? In your opinion is the quality difference significant? I'll find out for myself when I look at Rangers, but I want to see what others have to say.

Thanks.

I also wanted the convenience package. Went and looked and the trucks on the lot had all the features without being added to the window sticker. Seems standard now. I do like the bed lighting and perimeter lighting. Just a comment, no 12volt plug in the bed after 2024. No opinion on sound system.

The convenience package was added/separated out during the model year, you may be seeing trucks that have the options included in the package without the package being listed. Basically, Ford started charging extra for some stuff that was previously included.

Those features in the convenience package were standard on the lariats for Job1 builds, and in job 2 they made it an option. There were other changes too, like charging more for velocity blue that used to be a free option. FWIW, for 2026 there's even more being taken out of the lariat, like the projector led headlights and leather seats. So when you're shopping, it'll be best to have a list of features you want rather than packages you want, because there are inconsistencies throughout the model year with packages.

The items in the "convenience" package as others have mentioned, were broken out separately in the middle of the 2025 production so Ford could charge more money for them.

So you may well find 2025 rangers on the lot with those features, without the convenience package listed on the sticker.

The convenience package adds, a wireless charger which some people think works, and others, including myself, consider it a phone warmer.

The bed lighting, I hardly notice because at least on the lariat you have this really nice bright led lighting next to the third brake brake light that shines on the bed. Which you can turn off and on in the cab

I believe the standard XLT has the cargo light but not LED?

The 120 bed and cabin can be useful for charging things and run light duty electrical appliances. You won't be running a table saw and note, the ignition must be on for the inverter to be running.

I like the 10 speaker system, I think you can definitely notice the sub woofer and center speaker

There are a lot of little things that I would say on paper don't add up to the cost difference between the XLT and lariat, but I do really like them

@stemplar noted that for 2026 the lariat loses the fancy headlights. also, that
LED Center High-mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) with Cargo Lamp

in light of that, I'd seriously shop for a 2025 Lariat vice waiting for 2026. ;)

I had a 2021 Lariat with just the LED cargo light as part of CHMLS and I personally found it to be of limited help in most cases. I think the 6G Ranger bed lighting is fantastic (on my 2024 Lariat), the only negative is that they only turn on with the bed light button in the cab, not with the rest of the vehicle lights when you unlock or open a door. They’re much brighter than the CHMSL and being on both sides of the bed is way more useful in practice because far fewer things end up in the shadows.

I wouldn’t recommend paying extra money to get the wireless charging pad: most people find it charged so slowly and mostly just gets hot. If I didn’t have it I can guarantee I wouldn’t miss it.

I haven’t used the 400W AC outlet yet but I do use the 12V plug you can’t get anymore.

I’ve had the B&O system in my 2021 and now 2024 Ranger and been surprised how good it is. Recommended.

Do you know where the inverter is located? In the engine compartment or some where else?

I find the wireless charging highly useful on longer trips.

I have the Lariat and find the B&O sound system quite underwhelming; the output is barely sufficient for me.

I took time deciding to order a Ranger. In that time Ford removed what is standard on the Convivence Package. 🙁 I put the Convivence Package on for the bed lights. I cannot see in the bed when parked in my underground. Consider the lights if you will be putting a canopy on. I will probably add another battery adding on the 12V socket to the panel. As said the phone charger is not the best. Phone warmer. Another item that could be useful for you is the side step.

Yeah, so like others have mentioned - you really won’t find much of any Rangers with the convenience package, since as far as I can tell they didn’t add that package for 2025s until sometime in August.
As far as what I did for my 25 XLT - I did the 2.7L V6 301A package with the tech and advanced towing packages. The bed lighting is one thing I wished I could have had on my truck, but that is really about it. The wireless charging pad was standard (I think?) when I ordered mine in February 2025 and it’s quite useful, and I also find that it charges at a decent rate.
I think the convenience package also adds another power port in the bed, which if you plan to use your truck to go camping I could see that being useful. Personally, I will probably never use the power port I have.
While I have never been in a Ranger with the B&O sound system, the OEM one in my XLT is pretty decent for a standard system. Only thing mine is missing is a center channel above the center stack.
Happy Ranger shopping!

The inverter, at least on my truck, is under the drivers seat. The outlets are one behind the center console and one in the bed.

Looking at it, I don't think it would be such a big deal to upgrade it. However, Ford already indicates in the manual that output could be limited when in gear to 300 watts, so there may not be much extra power from the alternator.

I added a USB-A and C charging port in the bed in addition to the 120V existing outlet. Even though ford removed the 12V outlet in the bed for 2025, they still ran the 12V to the back connector that feeds the bed outlet. So it can be added after the fact.

And I will go out on a limb and say, even the new 2025s without the convenience package have that wiring. And you could add in 120V afterwards.

What I am seeing now, is a lot of things charge with USB-C. Like in my case, I have a small sprayer that I use to clean up after going to the beach and it charges while I drive. And I am probably going to get a small air pump that will be USB-C recharged.

The nice thing about AC outlets is you can plug in chargers and while 400 watts doesn't should like a lot, it is a lot for charging things and very convenient.

But again, the inverter is only active only when the engine is running.

The AMP is behind the rear seat driver side.

I have a 2025 Job 1 Lariat that has all of the and the FX4. I do like the lighting and BO radio. Still getting use to the finger on glass implementation of the headed seats and steering wheel. The advanced trailer options are nice along with the LED headlights.

Hope your successful in finding the right truck!

I have just gone through this experience, ending up purchasing a Lariat FX4 2.7 4x4 in Velocity Blue last week. Really pleased with it. Will be adding the USB in the bed and a Syneticusa USA AR pro rolling bed cover this week. One item i would really recommend are the ”integrated box side steps”. They make a huge difference for side access to the bed. They appear to be standard on the most recent builds of the Lariat, everyone i looked at had them. FYI i paid $48k plus taxes etc.

Have it but don't really care about the sound system but it came with the package. Do love permitter lighting and LED bed lights. Haven't used them very often but when you need them, they're there. No need to hold a flashlight.
