Has anyone found a solution to cover the drive selection knob?

When I get mine, being built mid-January. I plan on trying to 3D print a cover for that exact reason.
A round cover that one can lift up to access controls.

My Husky wants to be engineer too. Shifted out just when needed!

A suggestion. Measure the diameter of the knob in millimeters, and the depth. Then go online and look for rifle scope or binocular flip cap dust covers that might fit. Flip caps come in many diameters. If you live near a Bass Pro, Cabela's, or similar, they might have them in stock.

Exactly with a scope cover however I think the depth of the knob will be too great.

I would be interested when you get a working print.
First I have to get my Ranger to take measurements and see best way to make.
This design would have to use say double sided tape to hold
Unless there is enough stationary material in which perhaps a clamp could be fashioned.
March? Build in January.

Yes. Depth is the concern. I measured 70mm across from the outer edge of the enclosing plastic ring with a depth of 25mm, rounded slightly up, for clearance. Maybe Monstrum or Butler Creek has them or can custom make one. Someone might have a Ranger at one of these manufacturers and do a laser measurement.

It seems to me that this is a problem that would never even happen if you just confined the dog to the back seat. What am I missing? Do you let your pet ride up front or with his head resting on the center arm rest?

This is vaguely related - I once owned a 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero Sport Wagon, like all Saabs it had the ignition switch located in that same exact spot. We were cruising at 80 mph and my wife reached around to put her purse behind the seat, and the dangling strap turned off the ignition. That was very unsettling.

Curious around the ring is the surface flat?

I can relate. Had a 1986 Saab 900 Turbo. Wife's purse snagged the key on the Autobahn in Germany at 120 MPH. High adventure. Now she tends to push the engine start/stop button when reaching for the radio knob in her 2024 Ford Escape. No problem when in motion but it cuts the engine when stopped at traffic signals. People behind us are not happy.

I agree completely and dogs never allowed in the front seat.
But things happen this would be a safeguard device, heck even the driver or passenger could press.
