My 25 came without the key keypad. Who’s got the best price on keypads? Thank you!

Just Google it. There’s hundreds out there just over a hundred bucks..

Doesn’t a dealer need to program the keypad?
My keypad was in my center console still wrapped in the plastic it came in when I bought the truck, dealer said as of 2025 they don't do it for you any longer. The directions for it were very simple. Just attached inside gas cap and followed the instructions, worked no problem.

My dealer had mine installed on door
I moved it to inside the gas cap

Wow, I am disappointed in your dealer. This is the first one I have heard say this.
The only quirk with my delivery, is that since the keypad is now a “dealer-installed” part - it shipped separately and I had to come back a week or so later to get it installed. They installed it wherever I wanted, mine is just above the door handle on the drivers door.

I like the idea of hiding it a bit. To me, the key pad sort of screams “THIS GUY LEAVES HIS KEYS INSIDE,” because otherwise what’s the point of having the keypad? Why not just use the key?

Yeah, sounds like most dealers are still installing it and mine just didn't want to deal with it. It worked out for me since I would have relocated it anyway though.

I'm sure I'm just paranoid, but it makes me nervous to have it attached on the door with just double sided tape. Not only is it hidden behind the gas cap, but it's also 'protected' from being knocked off. I do drive through car washes very often, etc.

i would be curious what were those installation instructions?

edit: this looks like it and it says you need the ford FDRS software tool to program it.

And I suppose you could buy a 2 day license, for $120?

I ordered mine separately and had “delivered for pickup“ at the dealer and installed before I drove off the lot.

They wouldn’t install until I showed up to sign the paperwork so I had to wait around and make friends with the salesman and got a free lunch.

But they did program it and physically install it inside on the gas access door.

and I love that location

I am glad some smart people figured that out for me

Sorry. Found the instructions and just realized I didn't need to perform step 2a. So maybe the dealer did this without opening the packaging of the keypad itself.

Honestly not sure, the salesman said they didn't do the keypad for us any longer, that it just comes from the factory for us to do ourself. Unless it shipped with the truck with that step already done?

I attached it to the gas cap where I wanted it, then did the steps to create my code. It worked flawlessly.

edit: the access code and serial in photo are not the actual codes on the access card

Ford Ranger Where are you getting the keypads? unnamed

Self install (once you buy the 2-day FDRS license and if you have a good cable (Mongoose) and laptop) is really easy. Did it on two of my vehicles.

RagnarKon (can be found over at Bronco6g) posted a great YT video that I followed to do it.

Edit to add link:

And here's a link to his FDRS intro:
