What's your take on the self adhesive hood deflector? I purchased 2025 Ranger lariat and was wondering if anybody had issues coming off. I had an older Ford pickup which the hood deflector was held on by screws.

My father in law and mother in law have them on their ranger and bronco and no issues.

I have the old school stand off style and i lost a screw from it two weeks ago so i had to stick whatever little tiny screw i could find in it.

Not a problem, I have one on now, it is on solid until I want to remove it. There are automotive adhesive removers out there that will help you remove the foam tape and adhesive when you want it gone. Whatever you do, DO NOT use things like Goo Gone on auto paint surfaces, you will not like the result.

It was hard for me to convince myself to stick something on to my paint, too. Now that I’ve done it, I love it.
As long as you follow the directions and take your time you’ll be fine. Also, get a helper. A couple of extra eyes helps a lot.

Put mine on a couple weeks back. Have been out on the highway a few times, this last weekend was going 85-90 with a 30-40 mph crosswind. No problems, no flutter, no noise. My only complaint is the adhesive isn’t continuous around the perimeter and dust, debris and road grime is going to collect underneath it, and probably seep out after water or rain displaces it. Time will tell 🤷🏻‍♂️. I like the look and it will save a few rock chips

That was my concern dealing with debris. Thanks for comment

Has anyone been through a car wash with the hood deflector?

The Ford dealership where I bought my 24 said not to do anything stick on. Their experience was that between extreme cold and car washes, the deflectors crack. "Won't last two years"
I'm in northern MN though, so it might not be an issue in warmer climates. I like how they look though!

I have a 2013 GT 500 in which I put on the side scoops ( like the orginal 1967 models) with 3M double sided tape and have had no issue with them. The key is good prep. Make sure you clean the surface with something like alachol to insure a good bond.

I've always done the clear paint protection films on hood edges, mirrors, and roofline (vehicle dependent) and had great experiences with no stone hits turning into rusty pinholes.

Waiting for some warmer weather to get these added at the same time I get front tints put on my '25 Ranger.

My recommended guy if anyone's near Toronto is Jeff Try at Audio Heaven in Richmond Hill. Not sponsored in any way... Just a satisfied customer.
