I'm surprised comfort isn't even on the list. If people can't rest bare feet on them or they suck for road trips or the dog then I just take them off the list. The grip thing is kinda overplayed, yes I don't want mud getting everywhere or the mats to be gloss porcelain with a tiny bit of rain, but I'm not hiking through snow in there.

its illegal to drive without shoes here and i am not surfing anymore so i will never be in my truck bare footed to even think of how soft they are so its good to hear another thing people consider.

Fitment is something I just trusted with the last mats I got, but it’s not quite right and would be the #1 thing I look for going forward.

Then if I’m being honest probably style, I like the color idea shared earlier, maybe a trim or logo contrast color that matches the truck color. Cleanability, if that’s a word, maybe comparable in priority to durability.

That’s an interesting point, and it's definitely not one that comes up often. However, it’s a bit tricky to find a balance here. For example, in your case, would you prefer the mat to be softer, or maybe the texture not too deep?

Had a set of mud mats once that fit beautifully, looked terrific, but the ribbing was so deep and aggressive that my heel at the gas pedal kept getting caught in it. Had to replace them.

Had a set that the pattern of the mat was so thick, and the pattern not well thought out under my heel that it forced my foot into an uncomfortable position. Replaced.

Even something so simple as a floor mat isn't really that simple.....

Not simple at all — a good floor mat is all about the details.
Fitment, material, and performance in real conditions really matter.
