I keep mine folded flat in the bed under a tonneau cover. Don’t get me wrong, it looks cool… but I’m really happy I went a different route with my iLander tent.
Cool Beans!!!
Can you rig up a rip cord/cable setup so you can deploy the tent from the cockpit as a drag chute?
Jest kiddin...

I think that may be illegal in the state of California, I may have to settle for a turtle shell 🐢 or bananas 🍌

Not bad. I prefer a low rack that (a) still allows most of the space in the bed to be used and (b) allows the tent to open to the side of the truck. I cook in camp, and having the tent block tailgate access would be a non-starter.

Now, you may ask why I wouldn’t just fold up the tent while I was cooking? The answer is that my sleeping wife wouldn’t appreciate it.

Yes that was my setup for some time, can carry a lot more gear and the tailgate is an underrated tool

But, If you're a short king you can pull the tent out and have a little space to cook underneath

Nice Setup! I went with an Amazon special, but I love it!

it’s funny- my buddy just sent me your video a few days ago. it had me thinking about some things- my xtrusion rack- if i could stretch it 7”, i could put the tent in between the uprights. so theoretically i could still carry a kayak on top.
btw- you idea has a ton of potential. if you made a mount so it could be bolted to a decked system, it would sell. that’s otherwise dead space under a tonneau anyway.

At some point, why not just get a Diamondback tonneau that can take a RTT?

I can still carry stuff on top of the tent. With the tonneau open i can strap bulky items like a e-z up or luggage on top of the tent, just strap it down tight its quite rugged - and awesome thanks for checking it out!

If decked built a platform for rtts it might be overkill , you cant beat $40 dollars worth of wood & screws

Not so much into the tent thing, but I really like the Method Bronze 703's on the Oxford White, that's a sharp body / wheel combo!

Now, that is actually a really cool idea for "couple's camping", you and misses for a weekend camping trip, minimal, easy to set up, nothing permanently attached to the truck, no heavy racks, not boat anchors riding up top, clever gent
