Have you done the insulation to your doors and other areas of your interior? Wonder if that'd help.To all,
I've been living with this system for the last 500 miles and I'll do my best to give you my initial impressions. I believe mine was one of two used for development. It's the Azure Gray with the black wheels (non-beadlock) in the marketing video.
First off, I am beyond impressed with AWE and the time taken with the development. Their R&D process was very extensive. If you're familiar with AWE, then you know they push the envelope when it comes to sound. They're always on the edge. And they knocked it out of the park with this system. I've listened to the competitors along with some custom exhaust systems and I think this is at the top.
- For those concerned about the system hanging too low, I believe it actually sits up a tad higher than the stock system.
- Yes, the tips are large at 5" and this was a concern of mine. But honestly, I don't think they look bad at all after having it for awhile. If you truly despise them, they are easily removable and can be replaced with other aftermarket ones.
- The exhaust note is simply sweet. I feel like it has a much deeper tone at low RPM, but it sounds like a pure Baja racing truck when winding it out.
- Yes it does retain all four exhaust modes.
- The cold start is glorious.
- If I had to compare exhaust modes, I think "Normal" mode with the AWE is a little louder than "Baja" mode with the stock system. There's that much of a difference. I live in a neighborhood and I don't believe I've used "Baja" mode yet when coming or going because it's so loud. However, when opened up in "Baja" mode, the sound is sick (in the best way).
- The only downside to this system is the highway drone. Yes it exists. I understand that sound can be subjective like most other things, so things that bother me, might not bother you. For me, quiet mode is absolutely necessary on the highway, and even then, it still drones some.
I hope this helps some here. I think AWE was searching for a very unique soundtrack for the RR and I think they nailed it. I don't have any videos, but if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.
Matt
@Havasu RR here.Team at AWE is the absolute best in the biz! Video of the SwichPath and BashGaurd setup. Also, has SPD downpipes and 35s. Proof you can have both and they fit (barely!). Cold start on a hot day and then a rev in each mode: quiet, normal, sport, Baja.
Will try to get a driving video soon and more next week when I get the BashGuards swapped for the version with tips. Any questions feel free to let me know.
I have not tried insulation to the doors and probably won't. I would like to try the "bullet style" resonators used on the F150 Raptor and am talking with AWE about that.Have you done the insulation to your doors and other areas of your interior? Wonder if that'd help.
Do you have any feedback regarding if your putting around town, do you get a louder and deeper tone? One thing I'd like is an exhaust at certain level offers a better tone with very little pedal input![]()
sheesh. sounds nasty!@Havasu RR here.
Hard to say on performance. I’ve not dyno’d a setup like that.I’m considering this. I’ve been looking at the SPD downpipe as well. On thing though with both of them. The SPD downpipe reduces down to mate up with an OEM exhaust and the AWE exaust reduces down to mate up with an OEM downpipe so there is that bottle neck between both of them where it isn’t a 3” flow straight through. I guess I could have a shop fix that, but I’m wondering if that point between the 2 would cause a performance or sound hit leaving it the way it is.
Right now it doesn't look like there's an option to order without tips (other than BashGurard). Are you able to custom order or swap to 4 inch tips when ordering? Only thing holding back from ordering.
Are the 4 inch ones you have black? Any pics?Right now it doesn't look like there's an option to order without tips (other than BashGurard).
Tips are bolt on, I can swap them for a 4" set.
Sending you a dm.
