Dealerships are out of control with the prices they charge, specially for parts, the thing is the average person that use their services are not familiar with what it takes to work on their own car or don't have the time, so they take advantage. Dealerships don't make a whole lot of big money...
Full synthetic is a bit more expensive compared to blend and conventional, but you can actually switch from blend to synthetic and back to blend without any problems whatsoever.
Full synthetic is a far superior oil. 100% full synthetic is best, like Amsoil but not necessary I'm my opinion as long as you don't follow the 10K miles recommendation from Ford. Even Hyundai recommends full synthetic these days. The one thing to look for is to make sure the oil meets the...
Just drain the factory synthetic blend, replace the filter and start using full synthetic, 5W30, no special requirements. I did mine @ 1K miles., drove it from S.C. to North Dakota and back, no issues whatsoever, changed it again @ 5K, I'm @ 6K now, this 2.3 is one smooth engine, plenty of power...
It might, New base Rangers come with the updated 10R60 while the F-150 still using the 10R80 to handle higher torque. 10R60 takes a bit more fluid compared to the 10R80 so it might not be an accurate reading when using this dipstick.
That for sure would be a real helpful mod for the latest gen when it comes out. I'm planning on changing my fluid at around 40K miles, at least Ford is privides a way to check the fluid even though is a bit complicated to get to the dipstick. Most cars these days don't come with a dipstick...
You can reconfigure your gauges and other things, just go your settings and adjust everything the way you had it prior to the update. The same thing happen to my Ranger after the update but it's all back the way I had it.
Yep, I got the brakes recall done and just got notification yesterday about the side curtain recall, according to Ford, they don't have a fix for it at this time.
