Transmission fluid dipstick

Apparently you have to check yhe fluid from under the truck. I see that you can buy an aftermarket dipstick that moves it to the firewall like it used to be. Anyone done this? Happy?

ifi ts the dipstick from that dude name mike (i think), its not available for the 6g ranger yet. i have been asking him every 6 months if he has one yet and he keeps saying he doesn;t have a truck to test fit it on

That for sure would be a real helpful mod for the latest gen when it comes out. I'm planning on changing my fluid at around 40K miles, at least Ford is privides a way to check the fluid even though is a bit complicated to get to the dipstick. Most cars these days don't come with a dipstick option anymore.

Aside from the eye-watering price tag, it lists 4 transmissions for compatibility but none are our 10r60.

It might, New base Rangers come with the updated 10R60 while the F-150 still using the 10R80 to handle higher torque. 10R60 takes a bit more fluid compared to the 10R80 so it might not be an accurate reading when using this dipstick.

I will save anybody the trouble thinking they are smart and can make the Mike's dipstick for the 5G work in the 6G, it will not. The transmission dipstick access on the 6G is on the opposite side of transmission where the 5G access is.

i did a trans fluid change at 10k.... well, ford did it for me since they were also doing an alignment after a local shop messed it up after i leveled the front end.
