1st trailer hookup, how’s it look?

Sorry about delay in replying, haven’t had much time since been busy with the nieces and camping. We had a spare ball hitch laying around at work so I decided to install that and see if it would help at all. It raised it a good 1-1.5 inches from the hitch I was using. I will be checking the tongue weight with a scale we have at work this coming Friday.
The trailer has a max weight of 4,000 lbs and hitch supports up to 750 lbs and I‘m no where near that. I’m probably sitting about 400 lbs tongue or maybe slightly more.
When I went to Saskatoon I had a full tank of water plus all my gear, made sure to put stuff towards the back of the trailer as well. That was with my 2023 and it pulled it good. Was fighting wind the entire way so did 90 kmh and never once did I feel like I was going to lose control or anything like that.
I pulled the trailer 175 km on Friday and it didn’t miss a beat… 100 km/h, varying it on occasion. Found that my speedometer says 102 when I’m only doing 100 according to google maps.
The picture attached showed how I drove basically 1200 kms round trip.
In the bed of the truck I have the spare tire for the trailer, 2x 20lb propane tanks, bbq, griddle, folding table,a little bit of firewood.
I understand where people are coming from, but it always seems to be 50/50 with the WDH.

Not that you said it, but a WDH doesn't change the fact that the tongue weight is included in the payload.

Also, so many are suggesting a WDH, and all else being equal it is usually a good idea. BUT that's a small camper and the frame may not allow it. The trailer manufacturer should provide guidance.

Don't disagree with your comments. However having owned 4 travel trailers at various sizes the decision regarding a WDH is based on a lot of variables. I've not found trailer manufacturers to be helpful with these types of decisions. Maybe yours if different. Just saying!

game changer if you do not use a wdh. It is adjustable as well. I will never go back to a non torsion hitch. The ride is so much smoother and the bouncing and jarring back and forth are just about gone. Its worth the money. When we get the f250, GEN-Y makes a torsion hitch made for wdh as well, definitely gonna get one sized for a tt we will be towing. The boss is made for different weights as well.
Was going to get a rear sway bar link added to the ranger too, but instead went with the RAS road active suspension. Cornering, squat, and sway are greatly improved with this system. Makes a huge difference while towing. And towing i do a lot of.

Got the fuel economy numbers for the 1st tow. Going there you go up in elevation from 2,326 FT to 3,020 FT and going back home you go down. Never went over 100 KM/H when towing the trailer on the highway.
1st fill up I averaged 11.7 US MPG (20.2 L/100KM; 5.0 KM/L) and drove 218 KM's
2nd fill up I averaged 14.2 US MPG (16.6 L/100KM; 6.0 KM/L) and drove 133 KM's.

How’s it look? I think I’ll either need to get air bags or upgrade the shocks. It is sitting a bit different with the same setup as the previous Ranger with fx4 pkg. I’d rather not get a WDH if I can help it. It pulled good the short distance to work!

Get the WD hitch ,you won't regret it.They haul so much better and it will take all the bounce out of it which will ruin your front tires.

All of you guys recommending a WDH for this lightweight trailer, do you us a WDH when towing a 3,000 - 4,000lb boat? I've never seen someone tow a boat with one. So, why is it recommended for this trailer?

For everyone recommending the WDH, I have found two that I am assuming would meet what I would need.... The trailer has a GVWR of 4,000 pounds and I have no plans to get a bigger trailer or tow anything bigger with this truck. The Curt brand I would also get the sway control thing as well.
One of my coworkers recently saw a trailer accident happen in front of him and he showed me pictures. So after that and reading your responses have decided to look more into getting one. I am in Canada and don't want to spend a fortune to get one, so found these two....

Make sure your RV manufacturer doesn't recommend against a WDH. They're probably neutral, but the manufacturer of my RV recommends AGAINST WDHs for my specific model. In my case, it's a function of frame construction.
