2.7L Engine tapping / knocking noise, with video

Did they replace the flywheel with the new transmission? I have replaced flywheels that made that knocking sound. Not saying that's the cause here but it's worth looking into. Some times there are hair line cracks in them.

I don't believe so, I know Ford tech hotline was involved and they wanted the flex plate, as well as both transmission oil pumps, removed and inspected before authorizing the transmission replacement, so fingers crossed they did their inspections thoroughly but the transmission tech at this dealership does seem to be pretty good from what I saw in their tech notes on the first repair attempt. I should get the truck back Tuesday-Thursday this week and I will update again

Hopefully last update on this one, received the truck back with the replacement transmission, and the knocking noise seems to be gone. The new transmission also definitely shifts a little smoother, originally when cold the truck would almost throw you forward with a loss of power on the 4-5 shift, and also was super rough on the 3-1 shift, I initially dismissed this symptom after reading so much about how rough the 10 speed can be, but now having an actual smooth shifting one this must have been a related symptom. Fingers crossed this one lasts.

The knock in my truck started at about 1000km and definitely sounds like yours. I thought the sound seemed to come from the transmission but couldn't think of how a transmission could make that kind of noise. I guess it is off to the dealer.

My 2024 2.7L also made this exact noise. It seems a bunch of people’s 2.7L in the bronco and ranger make this noise. It went away over time (hopefully won’t cause issues in the future), but I’m at 15k miles now and haven’t had any issues.
