2024 RR (Lower) bumper grill removal

Deleted member 8207

Once you remove the bumper the sensors are snapped into a little bracket and can be easily removed. I just popped them out and back in once I was done with the painting.
Thanks. Could you please provide the type of paint that you used? Was it a spray? Any thoughts on plastic-dip?

Once you remove the lower bumper you were able to disconnect the parking sensors and then spray the bumper with a liner product. Correct?

While that is drying could you spray the sensors with a flat black auto paint without degrading the sensor performance?

I used matte black spray paint, but it didn’t set very well. I switched to Raptor bed liner spray x3 coats and then used matte clear coat x3 coats. The trick with the bed liner is to not be too close- hold the can at least 2ft away.

I’ve used plastic-dip products before. I don’t love them and I wanted something that would hold up the rock chips a little better. Came out really nice.

Sand off the silver, paint with primer x2, liner x3, clear coat x3, let dry for 24hrs.

Correct.
I’ve heard you can paint over them, but I’m not 100% on if it degrades the sensors or not.

Just unplug the sensor harness (which stays attached the the truck), then the sensors are left on the bumper- which can be popped out.

I really like the way this looks. Thanks for the recipe!

Not 100% what you’re asking for, but this is the best I could find. Go to 1:55 to see lower silver bumper being pulled off.

Hopefully somebody will post Pics of their bumper pull off soon! We are all waiting!
I wish mine came off that easy. I couldn’t get it off. Worried it was going to break.

In a different thread I asked if anyone knew the paint code for the bumpers and fender flares and someone replied.... Bolder Grey Metallic code JNV. I used a spray gun but they could also mix it in a spray can.
How did the color match turn out using that color/color code? Is it a good match. I’m getting my skid plate powder coated and have them that info. I’ll get my front piece done once I figure out how to get it off.

The single stage paint they mixed for me has some clear coat in it but after I top coated it with flat clear coat it is a real close match.

Dunno if anyone here can provide a little more guidance. I tried last night to pull the silver bumper piece off, bottom hex bolts were simple of course but the back of the top of the whole piece is very hard to access from underneath (even with skid plate removed). All I could see were some clips (some plastic tabs, some the metal kind). Is there a trick to releasing those?

As a fallback I may just tape off the truck and do it, but would much prefer to get the darn thing off (without breaking it!).

Thanks for any help
