I first ordered a Tyger soft cover for $240 which satisfied me well enough for 8 years on our 2016 Colorado. But after installing the new one on the Ranger I could tell water was going to pour in from multiple places. So, I returned it and decided I'd bite the bullet and buy a nice HD folding hardtop that I can stack gear on top of if necessary.

However, several of the aftermarket heavy duty bed covers I've looked at ordering online have apparently decided to skip the 24-25 models entirely (Peragon, Diamondback, etc.).

What model have you found and would recommend without reservation?

I decided to go with a retractable cover that would provide protection and security to the items I might want to have locked in the bed of my truck. I also wanted to have an overland rack placed above the bed to eventually add a rooftop tent, so I needed T-slot rails with mine, but you can order it without. Realtruck had what I was looking for and I love my cover. It was pricier than I wanted, but it has definitely been worth it in my opinion. I'm including the link below if you want to go and check it out yourself.

Best of luck on your search.

I have the 25 Ranger XLT and after some research and actual opinions from people who own them, I went with this model. The price point is in line with the use and quality. There are many water intrusion points on these beds so you need to go over and above to find and mitigate. The best part is how it folds in 4 parts to open for complete use of the bed without totally blocking the back sliding window.

How would you rate its ability to keep water out? I've read a lot of folks have had trouble with covers that don't cover the entirety of the bedside tops, like where the stake pockets are.

There are plenty of good covers to choose from. You can seal the rails with standard weather stripping. The bigger issue is there are lots of holes in the bed rails. You need to do a lot of prep work to seal them all up. Waterproofing isn't really a cover issue, its a Ford issue the way I see it.

To be transparent, I live in the Phoenix Arizona area, so you guessed it - I don't have much experience with rain. However, I've made road trips where I did encounter rain and I thought the bed cover did an exceptional job in keeping water out of the bed. The cover I have covers the entire bed, overlapping onto the side rails. As others in this forum have mentioned, there are weather seals you can investigate if you are really concerned about water getting into the bed of the truck. I think it would be challenging to get something that would be completely, 100% water proof.

I went with the BakFlip MX4. Purchased and installed locally. There is some leakage during rains and washing but nothing that worries me. What I store in the bed can get wet or is inside plastic tubs with lids.

I have the Worksport AL4. Made here in the USA (not just assembled). Good sturdy secure cover. Allows you to use the whole bed when folded up. Can walk on it. Good luck for no leaks as my cover doesn't leak but the Ranger itself has holes in the front of the bed, the side rails have places for stakes that leak, and the tailgate has pretty good gap on each side.

... Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 models available in Mexico have an OEM electric retractable tonneau that coupled with a stock OEM plastic bedliner with seals on the tailgate.
There are similar aftermarket tonneaus like this. I would go with the manual one. Its still quite good and secure. It also doesnt blocks the side bed rails.

Absolutely love the Diamondback on my truck. I had one on my 2024 F150 and ordered one for my 25 RR the day I bought the truck. Gets a little water when I go through the car wash, but not so much that I care.

BakFlip MX-4 here. Absolutely love it. I can see where the rails can find a way to get water around it and black RTV can fix it at the seal between the plastic cap/rail. Very easy install but for me I removed the end caps to the rails and slid the mounting brackets on the rails.
