slowly making progress on my build, first time attempting custom a pillars for a 2" wideband speaker.

all doors have 90mil cld deadener on inner and outer skins and door panels.

roof and rear wall also has 90mil cld

resonix black mat sound absorber 1/2" on door panels, 1" on head liner

CDT CL 6x9 woofers in the doors
CDT ES-02iB widebands
Morel maximo 6 coax in rear doors

will run a kicker key 200.4 in the bi amp mode for the front sound stage and the rears off the headunit power.

eventual sub will probably be a kicker shallow 10" or maybe a dayton audio shallow 10" powered by a kicker key 500.1

super basic setup overall.

i am running the main power large enough to upgrade should i ever want to do a full dsp and 3 way front stage

I got a recall on the upper air bags needing a shield. They may have to tear that out to fix that?

yeah i saw the recall but havent gotten a letter on it for my truck yet, i think the recall affects the actual structure of the a pillar not the trim. as this peice jist blows off if the airbags deploy and get caught by 2 plastic catch clips.

I could be wrong but I think the airbag is in the b pillar between the doors which has the words airbag on it, and that is what the recall mentions.

i don’t think the a pillar has an airbag

they do, drivers side a pillar trim will be caught by the 2 black plastic string looking pieces, and the passenger side gets held in by the grab handle as it should force the trim over the mounting bolts but catch on the handle itself

I didn’t understand that the side curtain airbag extends all the way across from back to front. Thanks for sharing,

i have like a 50% idea of what im doing haha. but i grew up in the mini truckin car culture so there was always lots of fiberglass enclosures to look at. best way to learn and worst case i just have to buy new trim panels

Non-engineer saying his 2 plastic clips are going to save him when the air bag explodes and deploys. The whole point is to prevent things from flying around in a car crash, its why the trim is designed to split not break off.

into the final stages now for the first pillar. a little more body work to smooth things out and then deciding whether or not to paint or wrap them.

going to temporarily wire the speakers up to factory wiring with a 300hz cap on them (factory tweeter has a 5.6k hz cap if anyone is curious)
