I wouldn’t buy a new Toyota Truck anymore. Their reliability has dropped in the truck aspect and slightly in the SUV department as well. Cars and Hybrids are pretty stout.

It will be used mainly as a daily driver. But some light hauling , light towing, possibly a light camper occasionally. Replace my aging f150, hopefully good enough on gas to replace my 14 camry also. I know mpg won't be close to camry ,24-35, but much better than old f150 ,13-15. Both my vehicles very dependable ,low maintence. Need the same from new vehicle.

I mean you could join some of the Forums and see what they’re saying. I go out to LBL in Tennessee/Kentucky and I’ve pulled 3 Tacos out. 2 of the guys have told me about front diff issues similar to the TFL incident. One guy just got his but said during the heavy rains we had a few weeks ago, the back window was gushing water. All 3 complained about how rough the transmission shifts. Electrical issues left and right.
Interesting. LBL is one of my favorite hang outs too. I was there in April (four wheeling, camping, and watching the solar eclipse) and I did see a couple of the new Tacos there. I think if you look at all the issues Tacoma AND Tundra have now it would scare me away from buying one. Apparently there are videos floating around talking about how dealerships are refusing to even take 22+ model Tundras in on trade right now.

Sounds like you definitely need the Ranger. Or, might I suggest a used F-150. I went shopping last week and noticed that there are a lot of very nicely equipped XLT F-150s coming in off lease that are in the $39k to $42k range. These are trucks with 2.7 and 3.5 EcoBoost engines, crew cab, 4x4, XLT 302A "High" package, very nicely equipped, with less than 30,000 miles on them. I personally have a hard time deciding between a new Ranger and a practically new F-150 with the prices being identical.

Interesting. Anecdotes at this point but it's too new to have any substantial data on reliability. The Tundra situation is bad. They claim it's a QC issue with machining debris or something, but that doesn't make sense given it affects the Lexus too. So it certainly makes you wonder if that engine has a serious design flaw. And then you have to wonder about the Tacoma. I'm pretty happy with my Ranger (and really hoping it doesn't end up having major problems).

Definitely worth the money. But the newer F150s are to big for me. From reading sounds like the 2.7 does good on mpg. Wonder if ranger 2.7 estimates for mpg are low?

I managed 21 mpg with a bed full of vacation gear, two bikes, a roof box full of all the stuff my Mother-in-Law packed and three other people at roughly 80mph from Central Ky to Georgia's Golden Isles. The truck does pretty well mileage-wise. Bikes are mileage murderers.

Without all those people and things, it got 26 mpg driving form there to Jacksonville and back to pick someone up from the airport. I did 80 on that trip too. I liked the 2.3 in my 5G and I still do in my 6.

I've found over the years that Fuelly.com is the best place to find MPG info because it's got millions of combined miles of real world owner data. Owners use their odometer readings and gallons filled and the app/website logs the results so the math is believable.

I would even search the last few years of F-150 2.7 data because Ranger 2.7 will be nearly identical.

Just a heads up. I hope you have j hooks (braces) for the bed of your truck. Any weight above 88 pounds sitting on the rails of your bed, need to have these. Search through these threads and read about it. It's mainly if your off roading and doing a lot of twistng, from what i gather. I could search through the threads and find a link to send it to you if you would like. One guy has a picture of his bed, literally crushed in the front corner behind the driver's side, if you order a Lear top from Ford, they will put these j hooks on before they put a topper on your bed. Good luck my friend. Love the truck!

I installed them before I started using the rack.

I have an immaculate 2022 F-150, XLT, White with 20 inch chrome wheels, 2.7 ecoboost, 15,800 miles, loaded. Undercoated with a wax base sealant guaranteed 14 years. Ill be trading it in to buy my Ranger Raptor. If anyone wants it for a little over trade in, give me a shout, it's a beautiful truck. I can't drive a vehicle that big anymore because of back issues.

@Johnny 5 , regarding the do you mean these load box reinforcements?

Thank you. But I'm having the dealer put my wife's (and mine when I get it) on. And Thanks for all the informative videos you have posted on these threads! Ford Motor Company should sponser you if they aren't already.
