5G Ranger accident statistics: bad news for ranger

This is bad news for (what’s left of us) Ranger fans. I’d like to see more data on the accident statistics just to better understand the weaknesses of the Ranger, like whether most fatalities occurred in frontal collisions, side, rollovers, or whether drivers or passengers are more vulnerable.

I also understand that the model years included in the study are for the 5th gen rangers so that begs the question how our 6th gen fare compared to the 5th gen.

The ranger isnt even in the top 23, infact no trucks are in the top 23,. Ford isnt even the top 5 most dangerous car brands either. The article below has all the rankings they pulled from. The data set is from 2018-2022 as well and then they have some data normalization with miles driven. There is also not indication that the driver or passenger of the car died.

It's not in the list of top 23 most dangerous cars because (checks notes...) the Ranger is a Pickup Truck. A chart on the page you shared the link for has the same exact statistic as the link I shared, and that asserts that in the pickup category the Ranger is second only to the Frontier:

The first chart is all vehicles, not cars. The 4.0 rating is also far down the list compared to any other list they have (its high for trucks, but not high overall). Its not about being argumentative, its about just bad data representation in general.

This is all the old body style trucks and old data. Also a very deceptive article and if you look at the crash ratings much the negatives are from the rear passengers which is understandable with the room back there. And yes these 5 would be the most dangerous "trucks" as they are the smallest trucks!! This doesnt bother me a bit.

My Bronco made the top 23, but not my Ranger. I don't know what to do. Is it even safe to sell? Should I just have the scrap yard pick it up on a flat bed?

Wow you’re just doubling down now. It’s not on the car list because it’s a truck and is literally on the truck list…my god man. 5g or not it’s clear from the 6g crash ratings that the safety issues have not been resolved.

It's probably in your best interest to cancel your order and move on to something you will feel safer in.
