A couple people asked that I post how I mounted my pistol in my truck. I drilled no holes. The mount moves back and fourth with the seat. It does not rub, and for an easily accessible gun, it is fairly well hidden. This is not for everyone.

I use an Sig 9mm 365x Macro, but you can use your favorite pistol as long as there is a holster for it. The only holster I found to work is from Dara Holster. Mounting option is ball only and mounting side is right.

I also purchased these 2 items from Tackform.

https://www.tackform.com/products/arm-7-long-dual-1-25mm-sockets-expandable-elbow-joint

https://www.tackform.com/products/11mm-aluminum-bolt-head-adapter-with-1-rubber-ball

Find a bolt the will fit into the forward hole of the 2 small holes under the seat. One pic is passenger side without bolt, the other pic is drivers side with mount and bolt. You will need a washer that the bolt goes thru and is larger than the hole on the mount. About 1/2” long bolt should work. This allows the seat to move in all directions. Make sure the bolt only barely goes thru the hole. Only snug the bolt up for now.

Take the 7” long dual socket (see pic below) and put one end on the mount and 1 end on the holster. Snug everything up and move the seat in all directions till you have it adjusted exactly how you want it. Then tighten the bolt and adjustment arm.

Approximately 30 minutes to install. Cost is about $130.

Cheers!!!

That is pretty slick, but I prefer to always keep my pistol on my body, there is too much risk in leaving it accessible to somebody else in the car, or to a passerby who reaches in when you leave the vehicle. In WA an “unattended” loaded weapon must be locked or you can be in big legal trouble. Also, what is your normal carry method, and how do you transition from body to truck and back again, without flashing it or muzzling somebody? For example if you are getting out to gas up or go into a store…. It seems awkward. Repeated changes of holsters seems like a great way to have a negligent discharge…. Thanks.

For long trips this could be a comfort saver. I always carry AIWB and even though my set up is very comfortable (I carry a full size and a spare mag AIWB. Holster choice makes a huge difference.) long trips where you are pretty much static in the seat can create hot spots. This will solve that problem. Thanks for the write up man!

I see you points and all are valid. So I can not disagree with you. For me since I am AIWB I am technically always muzzling myself. As a competitive shooter and a firearms instructor I know the risks I am taking. The speed at which I can deploy is crucial and AIWB from a carry perspective is just faster and if fighting I can have access to my firearm more easily than any other position. I would only use this for long drives. And to the point of moving the firearm for holster to holster, no one will see it.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, even thinking about appendix carry simply terrifies me! Hmmmm - will that round take out my femoral artery or my balls? …. My daily method is in a waist pack (Tommy’s Gun Pack) positioned over my left hip in front, with the lap belt underneath it - very easy to reach sitting or standing, super comfortable on even the longest trips. I even use it as an alternative arm rest. If I am parked and a little uneasy about my surroundings, I unzip it. My wallet, folding knife and light are also there, always within easy reach. This has worked well for many decades….

That's a great looking set up. I went an easier direction, since I have a Lariat I have the second storage box at the top of the passenger side dashboard. I carry a M&P EZ 9, it fits perfectly in there, I also have a rubber mat in the box so the gun doesn't slide around. I reach over, hit the button and the pew-pew is very easily and quickly accessible.

I carry IWB in the small of my back, so popping the holstered gunon and off my person is very quick and unobtrusive.

This is my preferred holster, I have purchased a number of them for various pistols.

Like I said this isn’t for everybody. Everybody has brought of some great points that work for them. I seldom carry because of the few different places I go. Out do dinner, for a drink at a bar, or to the golf course. These places usually involve a drink or 2 so I don’t carry. When I do it’s a IWB.

If someone tries to carjack me the culprit would not even see me pull the weapon when I would be forced out of my truck. No opening anything. No pushing buttons. Hard to spot with my tinted windows. Trigger is covered and protected. Think about if someone tries to carjack you. Where would the most accessible place for your weapon to be. You probably on have 1-2 seconds to act. For this reason, many people practice extensively pulling and firing their weapon from a holster. This is right beside you, next to your knee. I would never argue that on your person isn’t a better spot. I’m retired so I don’t go many different places. I don’t wear a jacket very often. Different laws require different needs.

Again a lot of great points have been brought up. None are right or wrong, they all just fit our different needs. I do appreciate everyone’s opinion on this subject.

I totally understand. When I first started to carry I had an empty chamber for about a month. Then that changed as I understood what would make the gun fire. It’s not for everyone and I get it. What makes me happy is that people find what works for them and train that way for absolute speed and accuracy based on their ability and then see if you can push past it. Sub second draws from AIWB are very doable. Just takes lots of dry fire to get there.

Great thread. Gave me a few ideas for my current vehicles and some great ideas when the RR shows up. Thanks, all. Following.
