Modern trucks are packed with technology, but finding a clean place to mount phones, tablets, GPS units, radios, and communications accessories is still a challenge.

Many universal mounting solutions require drilling holes in the dash, block air vents, interfere with screens, or get in the way of passengers.

We wanted a mounting solution specifically designed for the 2024+ Ford Ranger that provides a secure location for accessories without sacrificing usability, visibility, or interior aesthetics.

The American Adventure Lab Sidekick Accessory Mount (SAM) is a vehicle-specific accessory mounting platform designed for the 2024+ U.S.-spec Ford Ranger. Utilizing the factory dash-top compartment above the glove box, SAM creates a clean, secure mounting location for up to four RAM-style accessories without requiring drilling, cutting, or permanent modifications. The design maintains full access to the glove box and upper storage compartment while providing a solid foundation for navigation, communications, and device mounting.

Features & Benefits:

• Designed specifically for 2024+ U.S.-spec Ford Ranger models

• No drilling, cutting, or permanent modifications required

• Utilizes factory mounting locations

• Made in the USA

• Designed, manufactured, and tested in St. George, Utah

Why the Sidekick Accessory Mount Is Different

Most accessory mounts are either universal solutions or windshield-mounted systems that can clutter the driver's field of view. The Sidekick Accessory Mount was designed specifically around the 6th Gen Ranger interior, providing a dedicated mounting platform while preserving visibility and passenger comfort. Unlike many aftermarket options, it maintains access to both the glove box and the upper dash storage compartment.

Installation Notes:

• Designed for 2024+ U.S.-spec Ford Ranger models

• Uses factory mounting locations

• No drilling required

• No cutting required

• All necessary installation hardware included

• Installs with basic hand tools

• Maintains passenger-side usability

• Maintains glove box access

• Maintains upper storage compartment access

• Installation instructions available through the American Adventure Lab Instructions Library

I see clean as being reversible, allows clearance for normal OEM functions and passenger space and in the case of the finished product, having a matching finish color of flat black to blend into the interior. Being limited in front dash space this looks to be a great option for people that need the mounting surface

It what world is mounting a giant ass metal plate a clean way? The definiton of clean is lost here lol.
Maybe clean has a different meaning to you, but something that doesn't require drilling any holes in the truck, keeps gear out of the field of view, is extremely sturdy, and blends in to the truck, is clean in our definition.

Seeing it in textured black may help your understanding.

Wife gave approval to buy if/when there’s a powder coated option
Great! It's only available in textured black powder coat. We just show the raw versions on the product page so it's more clear what the product actually consists of since it provides more contrast against the dash.

How does this affect airbags and front collision safety? As someone who recently walked away from a high speed head on collision (due to modern safety features), this setup seems like a potential death trap to a passenger

The mount isn't affected at all by the airbags. The flange turns downward and does not protrude outward. That being said, you could definitely mount something on there that would be a problem. Having the flexibility to mount larger devices (ex. iPad) when solo is great. Then, if a passenger comes in, you can remove whatever accessories you want, easily. For me, I run the phone mount all the way to the left. It tucks up against the dash very well and won't be a problem in the event of an airbag deployment. The bag deploys from the top of the dash.

I guess that is more what I was thinking: Not the mount itself... that is not in the way of the airbag (but does have some sharp edges). But items mounted TO it. Obviously up to the end user to decide if they remove items while driving on the road. But after my experience, I am now hyper-aware of items INSIDE the vehicle (both mounted and potential free-floating projectiles).

Agreed. That was a huge factor in our design.

I'm an amateur radio operator and a member of our county emergency communications team. Ideally I like to have something closer to me where I could make adjustments, change frequencies or access a microphone as I'm driving down the road without having to reach across to the passenger side. Having that on the right side of the vehicle would be challenging for me.

As it is I have two radios mounted in the little cubby hole at the base of the center console. It's okay but I'd like to be able to see the radios a little more clearly. New vehicles are definitely a challenge for radio operators and the Ranger is no exception. Power and cable routing is another big issue.

There's nothing to understand. Big piece of metal is a big piece of metal. Is it a way to mount a bunch of stuff, you bet and I would imagine its a decent product as well. Is it clean, it is not. This is an in-cabin item not an item for the truck bed, so fit and finish is extremely lacking. Might I suggest powder coated screws to get it to look slightly less then a giant hunk of metal.
