Good Afternoon All,

Has anyone removed the AGS from a 2024 or 2025 Ranger? I am thinking of getting a CVF intercooler for my 2024 2.7L XLT. It will require the removal of the AGS and I didn't know if that could be done without removing the front fascia/bumper cover.

Thanks.

I recall reading somewhere (wish I could find it a post a link) that if you try to alter or remove them it will put a check engine / wrench light on your dash display.

In other Fords, I've left the actuator motor connected after pulling the AGS and zip tied it out of the way.

I could be mistaken but I think leaving the motor connected but removing the flaps themselves is the preferred way that doesn’t throw a CEL (the flaps are flexible and can bend enough to be removed without braking). I’ll know better in a few weeks when I get around to installing my cvf…

I just installed a CVF intercooler yesterday. I didn’t need to remove the bumper or grill. When you’re done find a spot to zip tie the motor for the shutters. FYI, I wouldn’t recommend running the zip tie through the hole for the motor either, use the bolt hole. I originally did that and the motor still turns so it chewed away at the zip tie in 1 day.

Did you have to remove thy shutters? Mine came with a metal frame which looks to maybe replace the shutters? I don't have my truck yet to look at how it goes in.

I have no idea what the metal frame is for, I didn’t use it. Bronco I assume since the intercooler works with both, but I could be wrong. Came with zero instructions, not even a QR code to get instructions. The active shutter I removed and I didn’t replace. There is some space in the front but not enough to put it back on. If you get it to fit somehow post your pictures. The rear shutter I replaced. You can put it back on at the end after everything is fully installed. Just slides onto the bottom clips in the back and install 1 bolt.

I document everything i do. I won't be getting the truck for another 3-4 months.

After your post I went back to CVF’s website to look again if there were any instructions, there weren’t, but all the customer reviews with pictures don’t have a grille shutter installed. I am a little concerned with there being no protection for the intercooler now on the highway, but I haven’t been able to find a mesh insert for that space for anything past 2023 models.

I never had an issue on my 19. I just pulled to recently and there's hardly any evidence of damage from driving.

BTW, I finally installed mine. Really no big issue. I did pull the shutters off but there is a code generated but no check engine. I ended up cutting the post that goes into the motor and put that back in to let the motor see a stop to think they're still there. No more Code. I also moved the radar above to free up all airflow top the intercooler and protected it with this grille. You can see all that in and around this post.
