Aftermarket, Ford Sanctioned under bed air compressor.

I got everything mounted today thanks to help from SurfRanger and Pirate Camp Co. Twin ARB with the Pirate Co mount and filter relocation kit behind the taillight. I took photos along the way but they aren't the best. It looks daunting at first but the project is not bad at all and fairly easy. I just need to find the correct brown wire in the rear for Aux 4 tomorrow (they are right by the hitch and Ford has 2 brown wires there) and run the power harness up to the engine bay. You can easily buy wire and extend the harness yourself. I got 1/8 expandable braided sleeving for the purple wire to aux 4 and then 3/4 expandable braided sleeving to run all the way to the engine bay. Sealed the ends with heat shrink and turned out OEM looking. Hopefully I can just follow other lines and it's not too difficult. Any tips there would be appreciated. BTW, I had some questions and Pirate Co got on a video call with me to review the mount and install, that was awesome! Most companies do not do that.

I did use pirate camp plate to install my ARB compressor under the bonnet; super clean install, way easier than in the bed truck and no issue with routing big wires to the battery. the ARB standard wire harness is long enough to reach the battery clamp with an all-hidden route under the plastic cover on the top of the front grill. also, wired to my AUX6 and it works as a charm. relay placed close to the compressor in a frame recess protected by water&dirt. the standard ARB hose is long enough to reach all 4 tires, and also to inflate my MTB when needed

Much easier and much faster install, you just have to open the bonnet and attach the hose? You could run an air line to the rear also and have 2 chucks.

yes, super easy and the compressor is better protected under the bonnet vs the rear frame. yet, on my 3.0L diesel there are the truck bed access steps, and thus you cannot really fit it as in the raptor (but pirate camp makes a proper plate for my version too). correct, I just open the bonnet and plug the hose; and yes again, I can just route a fixed extension hose to the truck bed control panel. way better to route an air hose than a 10 or 8 AWG wire. but I do not like the hose plug in the bed truck, too keen to be broken by ay load I throw in there

That makes alot of since, I probably would have gone that route if I knew they had the under bonnet mount. Hopefully I have mine running in the next day or two. Cheers

ford did a great job in creating that space under the bonnet where you can fit extra battery or compressor or anything else you want/need

I ordered the compressor and Ausmotion compressor mount today. I'm putting together the other things I need, but I'm not sure on the hose connection coming off the compressor. Is that the 1/4 elbow fitting?

Yes, this goes into the compressor. I got mine running today and I am just waiting for those fittings and the steel braided hose and I will be done. There are 2 brown wires in the rear. One is Aux 3 I got first then I tried the other one and got Aux 4. I ran the plastic braided sleeving all the way because I extended the wires and didn't want them exposed. The sleeve provides protection from friction. I'm not an expert, I could have probably used something else similar to what the ARB harness is.

I’m just waiting for the elbow fittings above and then I can mount the chuck. I got the steel braided hose in 1M and it looks like it will be plenty long for this setup.

Anyone have a snapshot of the location of the AUX wires for the compressor under the tub? Also read that both AUX 3 and 4 are brown unlike what's stated in the manual.

I finally got all the parts and hopefully have time next weekend to install this.

I didn’t take a photo of that before I wrapped it up but it’s right in front of the tow hitch. 2 browns. 1 is Aux 3 and the other Aux 4.

Install was very easy. I did make my own control side harness to make things cleaner. 2 people are definitely needed to get the compressor itself mounted, one to hold it up and align it underneath the truck and one in the bed to bolt it to the bracket.

Did you have to run the big wires all the way up to the battery or can you patch them in to the aux cables in the back? If you are just using the overhead aux switch for the compressor, do you even need that second set of "switch" wires hooked up? It seems like wiring the big wires directly to the aux wires would power it and act as the switch.

I ran them all the way to the battery and I think that was required due to the amperage and the Aux wiring is very thin and adcts as a swtich right? Not an expert. Let me find a photo I took of what I ended up with.

Thanks! What wiring did you use from the end of the loom to the battery? It's way too long of a run for just the loom alone. Were you able to find something that was already wrapped?
