Guess I should mention the reason for asking. It's not for bashing or criticizing.

Over in the Wrangler JL forum there are two techs that contribute on a regular basis. Also another tech that is self-employed. Could have been more, but I found these there super helpful.

Techs can offer behind the scenes with details of recurring problems and dealer experiences with manufacturers. Also, they can add facts to rumors thereby better shaping particular situations and vehicle problems.

So, if you're a Ford tech, it's good to know who you are. Nothing but respect for coming forward and contributing here.

That would be invaluable.

If I were a Ford tech on this forum I probably wouldn't advertise it because I'd be flooded with questions.

Getting flooded with questions in JL forum is not what I saw, but who knows about their inboxes. Ford techs here can't answer for Ford Corporate, so those questions shouldn't get asked.

The threads here regarding modes being changed without the driver's input, and the airbag recall, are excellent threads for a Ford tech to comment.

Id seen some examples from the Ranger5G site where people printed off threads and took it in to fight their dealership because of what was being discussed. "User blah blah blah whos a master mechanic said...."
You cant police where, when or how someone will use your info given, even with the best intentions, so I highly doubt anyone would step up and identify themselves as a mechanic for fear of some sort of backlash through the system.
best to just let them offer info anonymously as a user. Use your best judgment to figure out who may be a mechanic by trade. If they are here, they are commenting already.

That's exactly how I detected the techs in the other forum. It wasn't difficult. Here, I've not seen any indication of a contributing tech. Figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

It's unfortunate that these money-making (Verticalscope) forums don't compensate verified techs. Techs do add a degree of credibility to forums.

I'm a member of the Sprinter forum and we have at least 2 dealership techs and several independents. One of the dealership techs goes into great detail and makes You Tube videos while at work with the permission of his employers. It's all very helpful.

With the 6th gen being so new it may take some time before we see that. I've noticed with new and almost new vehicles the forums are not anywhere near as active as when the vehicles get older, often changing hands to a more DIY class of owners.

This also easily turns to dealership turnover. Youtube videos, posts in a forum etc are the best advertizement. I would hope that Ford realizes this too :)
