Has anyone installed a second strut on the tailgate? If so, I was wondering where it was ordered from. Thank you

Didn't know a second strut was needed. My 2024 seems to work with one. Check out internet. Some priced about 20. Ford gets about double that.

You find the damping insufficient? Regardless of agreement, that seems the only reason for your inquiry, but I am curious.

Have you considered finding some aftermarket damper that simply replaces the stock unit but performs more to your liking? If available, that might be the easier approach.

I was wondering the same thing. I saw a couple of replacement kits somewhere online and if you look the holes are there to mount a second.

The 5G's didn't come with a strut, but the aftermarket ones explicitly tell you not to install one on both sides on their instruction sheets. I'm assuming it could bind when you try and close the tailgate?

I was just thinking of adding another one because I saw the holes there...no big deal, thanks.

I have only one Tailgate Lift Support on my 2024 Ranger XLT. It is on the passenger side but I believe it is supposed to be on the driver's. I suspect whoever did the spray in liner put on wrong, because they also forgot to tighten the bolts.

Any suggestions?

I actually did and it was perfect because I had the tailgate storage box and it needed it. Plus I used a universal torsion bar to take the weight off for closing.
