Anyone use a throttle controller?

The RR is a drive by wire system, and your throttle inputs do not translate 100% to the engine. Has anyone tried a throttle controller to get the RR to behave more like it has a mechanical wire linkage throttle?

I am looking at the Ultimate 9 or some others.

Anyone chime in about which they prefer?

I had a Banks PedalMonster on my Canyon, which really helped with the mushy pedal.

But I find the RRaptor is much better throttle response and I don't feel like I need anything

I have the Banks Pedalmonster and love it. I've been following Gale Banks since the 1980s. Allows me to tune to my liking. I had it in my 21 Ranger then transferred it to my Raptor. My RR has the Procal tune as well. The tune alone made the throttle response better. The Pedalmonster made it perfect. The new firmware gave us the ability to tune the throttle off the line below 10 MPH. I like a responsive throttle midrange but made it too sensitive off the line. Now I can slow the initial hit from a dead stop. Turn everything up to full tilt and it smokes the tires off the line or set it back to stock. Can change everything on the fly through their app on my phone. Once you have one, you'll always want one.

I dont see how you would a throttle controller is a joke. in every single drive by wire system in existence your throttle inputs are never 100% translated to throttle response. Some are tuned for better fuel economy, some are tuned so you wont break the tires lose, or a combination of those two or other reasons. A throttle controller would reduce or eliminate those curated inputs.

But I am curious to read why you think that isnt true.

The PedalMonster I had on my Canyon was not a joke. It made the truck 100% more drivable.

I personally don't think the RR needs one, but if someone wants to be able to remap their pedal... a legit controller is the way. None of these eBay and Amazon finds. Don't cheap out.

I cannot remember the brand i had on my 17 nissan titan but it caused two throttle bodies to go bad so i took it off.

It wasn't a banks, i know that.


I had to google it. It was a roar pedal controller. You could set it to go from slow grandma take off even though you floored it to going full blast with hardly any input. I ended up setting it to almost stock snd then had problems so took it off

I have a pedal commander for sale right now. Had it on my ‘21 bronco 2.7 that I traded for the raptor. It was great and definitely made a noticeable difference to the feel of the throttle. Has like 24 different setting combos to dial it in how u like. I didnt feel like the raptor needed it as much as the bronco, so I’m letting it go if ur interested. Confirmed by the manufacturer to work for the ranger and basically any other ford

I had a Pedal Commander on my RR until I got the FP tune. Haven’t had need for it since, but that’s a personal decision. I’d be curious to hear how it drove in conjunction with the tune.

Pedal commander products do not add a single HP. They just change the responsiveness of the throttle and throttle lag that can exist in drive by wire systems.

I have a banks pedal monster. No tune, definitely helps with that throttle lag in my opinion, plus it’s 1/3 the price.

I still use the old school throttle controller, a size 11D foot with 215 pounds of force behind it!
