Anyone w 2.3 Have a Cold Start Rattle Sounds like Exhaust

I have a 2024 XL 2.3. Since new it has a cold start rattle that is on and off until it warms up enough for the idle to drop. It sounds like an exhaust heat shield or something similar. I’m gonna take a look but wanted to see if there was any common issues people have experienced? Thanks

Yep. Mine too. Seems common. Getting mine checked with my upcoming oil change.

i brough it up before I bought mine, the ford tech put it up on lift and heard the noise it was the thin heat shield making noise. The tech brought me out on the floor and showed me. He put a little pressure on it and the noise stopped. even started up another ranger same noise just the way the heat shield is positioned and made

Mine does it to. Going to climb under this weekend and find where on the heat shield it is coming from. Then im going to wrap a hose clamp around it. Very annoying !!!!

if mine did it i would add something to stop the rattling. i hate hearing stuff like that on a vehicle

sometimes just putting a slight bend in the heat shield eliminates the rattle also

Sorry, been busy. Transmission replaced. Don't have details on the issue, but trans started showing other signs of issues - lazy shifts except under hard acceleration, hard downshifts, unwillingness to downshift without heavy throttle input.

New (not reman) trans is night and day better. Mileage has gone back to where it used to be, about 23 tank-to-tank overall.

Wow! How did this go from a heat shield rattle to a transmission replacement. That escalated quickly.
