Not yet, but I have noticed there is a similar rattle that occurs somewhere in the vicinity of the passenger side fender if the door is closed a little too hard. I haven't had time to research it thoroughly, but it could be what I'm hearing if the suspension rattles the same part.
Nicely doneFor me it was a passenger seat rattle. Yes, I looked into the recall from last year and no, the pivot screws were not the cause, they were nice and tight still.
The noise was from the front passenger seat, but only when someone was in it. It would happen with movement of the passenger from vehicle motion, both up/down and side/side, especially side/side. It was most noticeable at lower speeds, due to sound levels, but always present.
It turned out to be the sheetmetal front upper frame piece, where it attaches to the main side frame. There is a shoulder screw that goes through the upper frame piece, which has an extruded hole in it and some grease applied to the interface. While the power seat actuation doesn't move that upper frame, it must float somewhat for the suspension of the seat. As you push and release on the upper bracket, both side and top, it would click/clack, which was the noise. Here is a link to the video of the noise:
Passenger Seat Noise
My solution was to install a washer, coated with some grease between the upper bracket and the frame rail. I luckily had a washer that fit the job perfectly. The thickness of the washer did not bind the bracket in any way, as you can still turn/spin the washer by hand with the shoulder screw tightened. I only did this on the outside of the seat, will need to go on a test drive with my wife to see if the other side of the seat makes noise in normal driving conditions.
To get to the screw, you remove the outer trim panel via 2 screws, one back and one inside front, pull the rear edge of the trim panel outward and upward, slide the trim forward to come off the locating tabs and remove the power seat harness from the switch. You could technically do the rest w/o removing the seat cover clips, but I removed the clips to move the cover upward to expose more of the bracket and prove out the source of the noise. Removing the forward harness bracket also made it much easier to remove the front seat cover clip. I removed the bracket screw, test fit the washer, applied grease to the washer, placed it behind the bracket over the extruded flange, reinstalled the screw to 20 lb-ft torque and voila...no more beer canning!! I put everything together and should be good.
I have a feeling a dealership tech would not have gone this route for figuring out the issue. Just an opinion in my mind. After owning/working on my own cars for the past 40+ years, I know that all solutions are not documented in TSB's or Recalls and this kind of issue is more of a design/one-off kind of thing. Just glad I found the 'smoking gun' fairly easily, YMMV.
