HI all-

24 XLT with Tech package. Everytime I back out of my parents driveway, it sees the white lane line on their street. (2 lane road with striped yellow line, and there is a solid white line on each side that allows parking on each side of the road.)

So when I am backing out of their drive, the sensors sees the white solid line and it seems to thinkg its a cars and slams the truck on the brakes and the screen is beeping. Is this normal? This is the only place I am having this happen, it can be day or night, its annoying as I forget about it until the next time I am over visiting.

Mine has never done it for lines, but it has for steep driveways where the bumper gets "close" to the ground on the way out.
Hmm, they do have a steep driveway as well, I assumed it was the white line cause it seemed to trigger right at that point. I'll have to experiment Thursday and see if I can try to angle the truck to get it to not do it, instead of straight out. Thank you for that info.

My Lariat experienced the same thing trying to back straight out of a steep driveway. After 3 attempts of the brakes automatically being applied, the only way I could back out into the street was to do so on an angle. It was momentarily frustrating as I was moving my truck so the car in front of me could leave.

The BLISS system doesn't 'see' anything, meaning that it doesn't use the camera. It uses radar sensors to detect obstructions. One off my driveways has a steep upward incline at the road and sets off the alarm and brakes. And when backing out at work, the cross-traffic alert will pick up a car on the road that's 12 feet behind the parking spot. The reverse sensors will also alert to the curb in the parking lot.

Yes, I have the same steep driveway issue and its worse on the new Ranger than my Subraru Forester!

Just need to figure out how to disengage for that shore time, I have a virtual get to know with Ford next week, I’m going to ask them about that.

I got past it by going slowly enough (Like really really slowly). I didn't know how to turn it off at the time.

When you put it in reverse and the camera image pops up, there's a touch button at bottom right that lets you disable the reverse sensors and cross traffic alerts.

Ok, I’ll look for it tonight, still getting use to all of the tech, only been driving it a week now and the online manual is a pain. May order a 2024 manual as a paper reference!

Ok, I see the toggle, is it just for this backup event, or is it off till I turn it back on? I'll have to play with it a bit to see if that fixes the issue.

I'll have to investigate it, but I think it will stay off until you switch off the ignition key.
Then it's back on next startup, UNLESS you have it turned off in the Driver Assistance Menu.

manual has this info for overriding rear brake assist, but I never tried it:

Reverse Brake Assist (If Equipped) - Overriding Reverse Brake Assist
Ford Ranger Backing Up-Blind spot issue when nothing there {filename}

Overriding Reverse Brake Assist

There could be instances when unexpected or unwanted braking occurs. Firmly pressing the accelerator pedal or switching the feature off overrides the system.

Has anyone tried pressing gas pedal to override auto-brake? That sound like bad idea, does it start moving slowly?

Yes, you can override it with the gas pedal, but the alarm keeps ringing and it's still ridding the breaks. Yes, it resets after a stop/start . Guess I'll just have to figure out my mechanics to deal with the system.

This is way more sensitive on my 6G than my 5G was. Honestly, the threshold should be angled "up" a bit. If it gives me problems backing out, I just hit the toggle on the screen. It always defaults to on on the next revrerse, so it won't nerf you in an unfamiliar spot. It is too sensitive though. I can't hit a random crack in my street....
