Has anybody added a switch in the bed to activate the bed lights? This seems to be an oversight by Ford it just doesn’t make sense why there would not be one.. There has to be an easy fix to just add a switch.

The bed lamps turn on when any door is open, or from the console button on the drivers side is why. There is no other way unless you are gonna wire something in.

I know that. I’m looking for those who have installed a switch to over ride that.

Is there something you need to turn on to get the bed lights to turn on when you open the door? Mine only come on when I push the switch.

I was quoting the manual, so perhaps the manual is wrong.

My bed lamps only come on with the dash switch also. Duh Ford!
I am in the process of adding a remote bed light switch next to the power outlets in the bed. The 12v power outlet is where I plan on grabbing power. Remove the panel and drill the plastic to take a round rocker switch. Driver side bed lamp led has only power and ground so I will cut the connection and join new power and ground from the switch. This lamp has a couple of plastic tabs on the bottom holding it in. Will probably add some strip lighting as well. Work in progress with photos!

I like the idea of adding strip lighting. That'll be really nice under the tonneau near the front of the bed.

I'm thinking ford can fix it via software, the bed lights come up with zone lighting so perhaps they will fix it in the future, or someone will find it with forscan

We had it in the old Ford app but the new one doesn't have it, so them fixing what they had you would think would be easy.
