What are the part numbers for those OEM bolts? I beat the hell out of mine trying to get them out as well...

I destroyed mine also. A member posted different bolts that will work in place of the OEM bolts earlier in this thread. I won’t be putting those flimsy bolts back in. I picked up some sturdier bolts and believe they are 8mm. Someone feel free to correct me if I’m incorrect.

LineX trashed a bunch of mine attempting to remove them. I replaced all 12 with the ones from a 19-23 Ranger. W505594-S450B

The heads are slightly smaller making them fit a little better on the tie down hooks, they're also Torx rather than TorxPlus

For people struggling to remove the bolts, a pipe wrench works perfectly. Once you get the bolts removed, run them back in and out of the holes a few times to remove all the hardened loctite from the threads. A dab of black paint on the marks on the bolts from the pipe wrench, and you’re good as new.

Unfortunately I beat the heck out of the T20 hole on two of my bolts before I thought of the pipe wrench idea, so I have to purchase a couple replacements.

Removing mine tonight to prep for a trip to Line-X and as a helpful hint to others looking to remove them, try heating each bolt with a heat gun for ~1 min at ~700°F with a concentrated tip before using a standard ratchet (not worth the risk of a power tool). All of mine came out relatively easily using this method, but I did have to reheat a couple early ones that I didn't heat as long.

Well this an interesting thread to read now, I took mine out to mount my Builtrite items, no problem. I did see blue lock on them.

Nice are those 5G Ranger molle panels that work in the 6G?

This was SUPER surprising to me. I removed the hooks on my 23 Ranger with no issues. With regards to the bedliner, I sprayed it in myself and it’s an easy touchup. Thanks for the reply!
I had a 2019 Ranger and those bolts didn't have any loctite on them back then.

This thread was super useful, turns out heat gun 700F for a min (getting bolt up to 400+ measured with a temp gun) was the key to removing. Definitely heat them up before you even try to remove or you'll likely strip.

Just sharing the OEM part number for 24+ Rangers because I didn't see it listed here. Be sure to use a T40 Plus bit for the 6G bolts or they are very likely to strip. The bolts used in the previous gen were just normal T40. As others mentioned, you can swap to the older version if you prefer.

6G Ranger (2024+) tie down hook bolt - W721576S450B
5G Ranger (2019-2023) tie down hook bolt - W505594S450B

UPDATE: The new tie down bolts are just trash, I think they are made of play-doh. That plus the red loctite is a recipe for disaster. Will be replacing them with the previous gen bolts.

I made the mistake of using an impact gun on the first two since I couldn’t get them out any other way. Snapped the cheap bolts right off. Wound up getting them out with a simple 1/2” ratchet wrench. Took it very slowly and the rest of them did come out. I removed them to install the Ford modular bedliner.
I've still got mine stuck away in one of my tool boxes. Haven't used it in a decade or two...... but appreciate the reminder on using it.

An electric impact has one big flaw, the bit can easily slip. I prefer a hand impact tool, similar to this one.

I have a smaller 3/8” drive one that I bought 55 years ago to remove those pesky soft Philips screws on my Honda motorcycle. It was the only way to get them out without stripping the heads. When you whack it with a heavy hammer, all the force goes into driving the bit deeper into the fastener. I still use that tool. WEAR A HEAVY GLOVE on the hand holding the tool, otherwise a slip will take the skin off.

If it completely snaps off, you can’t do anything but swear, but IMHO this is better choice than an electric tool for screw head fasteners.

Always chase the threads before reinstalling a bolt, to remove dried thread sealant and steel burrs. Always!

I removed all 6 tie-downs today in preparation for installing a bedrug. What a massive pain in the A$$. I heated the bolts using a soldering iron. That softened the loctite and then they were easy to loosen. But after a few turns each one seized up again. I was able to slowly and carefully remove 9 of the bolts. Three stripped and I had to resort to locking pliers and a pipe wrench. Those screws are junk and I will replacing them with new 8 mm bolts. What should have been a 5 minute job took most of the afternoon! At least none of the heads broke off.

good ideas to heat the bolt!! My Bedliner is a spray over. The shop said that too many snap off for them to risk it but customer could do it ahead of time.
