I've been looking on Bilstein's website for shock upgrades since I ordered my '25 lariat fx4 over a year ago, and I'm just now seeing an option for rear shock upgrades to Bilstein's B6 4600 shocks. I've been using Bilstein's on my German sedans and SUV's for a long time now but I've never put them on a truck before, of any size. For those with experience putting Bilsteins on a truck, without lifting or otherwise modifying the suspension, what should I expect if I put these rear shocks on? Stiffer ride around town? Better or worse when towing or hauling heavy loads? Specifically I'd be replacing my OEM FX4 rear shocks so I'm curious what to expect. When I put my vehicle data in there wasn't an option to choose the FX4 package which lifts the standard Ranger suspension a bit, so I'm also curious if these Bilsteins will actually decrease my ride height in the rear.

I replaced the front and rear shocks with Bilstein 5100's on my 2021 Toyota 4Runner. It was a night an day difference. The 5100's really stopped the frontend dive and body roll that plages 5th gen 4Runners. The 4600's and 5100's are close - the 5100's have very slightly heavier valving for managing a larger than factory tire.

I'am think about changing out the rear shocks on my 2025 Ranger Lariat with the new 4600's - I'd like a little more control in managing the bounciness when the bed is empty. It looks like a simple job to swap out the rear shocks. I was wondering why Bilstein hasn't release a front 4600 yet ???

I'm a strong believer in Bilsteins. I've never put them on a car but have run them on everything from stock Tacomas (4600s)to TJs (5100s) to lifted 4Runner (5100s). They made a Huge ride improvement on my F350 👍 4600s

I can't say why there's no front yet, but it took 2 years for them to sell 4600's for the rear. I have a collection of their canned email responses to my asking for shock upgrades for our Rangers.

I out nilsteins on my 2017 nossan titan. The 5100s. Smoothed out the feeling that the front tires were bouncing on rougher roads when turning.

They wont lidt or lower youe current ride height though. Shocks only contribute by stopping bouncing. If you get adjustable height shocks and struts, the higher you set them, the firmer they ride. On my nissan, i set them mid way on the heihht adjustment and wished i had chosen the lowest setring because it firmed up the ride more than i wanted.
